=ebay wash and dye job=

Post by badhoopty »

picked this up off ebay last week, bought it mainly for the wheels. once i got it, i discovered the wheels were definitely not queen quality and decided to just dye all the parts black, polish up the wheels best i could, and ez-off the rest of the aluminum. pretty neat little rig for what it is. i threw one of liquorbox's wings on it and one of my test fit bodies for the time being. probably end up a runner or maybe sell it, i dunno.

the chassis is odd, its some sort of plastic or teflon with foam sandwiched in the middle, anybody know who made it?

very nice job, now you could easily sell it for the double of what you paid for it :!: How did you polish the wheels?

i used nev-r-dull polish on them. the rears i just put on a runner and spun them while i polished, the fronts i just used alot of elbow grease.

i need to hit them again and polish up the backsides more as well, probably chuck them in a drill bit for that.

I don't know that Neve-r-dull product, maybe because it has another brand name here in Europe... but I have something similar I think, it works but I can't manage to wipe some little oxidized grey spots on my Sees rims, do you have any piece of advice? For the moment I only tried with polishing product and an old tissue manually... maybe it will dissapear with the bit drill?

Looks awesome! I remember that chassis hanging on the wall at the hobby shop, and I even remember guys running it, but I can't remember who made it. At that time, there were only a few companies making graphite chassis at that point... Composit Craft, Houge, Raborn and A&L to name a few. I think it was the balsa sandwhich chassis from Composite Craft, but don't quote me on that.

Also, a Dremel with a polishing pad and some Blue Magic metal polish, and you can polish up any odd shapes that you can't spin in a drill. Works as good as Nev-R-Dull. OH, and here Nev-R-Dull is made by EagleOne car care products.

Nice job badhoopty. I was watching the auction and planned to bid just for the rims. I envisioned doing exactly as you did (dye, polish). I would say for the price you indeed have a nice runner. Did it come w/bearings?
