I am writing an article for my trx-1 rebuild, with some history about the car. My memory is betraying me. I have somewhere in my mind that the TRX-1 made the A at the Worlds in Detroit in 1991, in the hands of Rick Velhow. Can someone confirm this, the name/spelling of the hero who did this and possibly provide some pics?
thanks for the help

Thanks for the info!

Hey I never said I was as knowledgeable as you So, sir, tell us - what is the original name of the TRX-1?
Paul
Edit - hold on, is it that "guessed" name that is the same as a future serpent onroad car?

Wow I'm impressed by your knowledge gentlemen - Kenooze, can you drop me a quick PM (in french ) with a few lines about the name and history and the why's, and I'll make sure you get credit in the article that'll be released on Georges' site?
thanks to both,
Paul

No probs, I will try !
But if you take a look in the scan forum, I published few things about the 1991 Worlds, including the official programm.
In that one, you will be able to find a page of publicity with the "vector" annoucement .
That's collector !

I will get it scanned in, tells the history, etc. of perhaps Traxxas's only true race car. Perhaps why I have a new one on the shelf
What you really need for the full history of the TRX-1 is the December 91 and the February 92 issue, the 91 being the worlds, the 92 being the full test review with historical insite.
Luckily I have both! I will try to get them both scanned into the archive seperately.
I have a new TCP I am getting ready to build. The car I have is missing the slipper assembly, so my question is this:
1. Would you run the stock slipper (still available new) to maintain the box stock form?
2. Will the Losi Hydradrive fit under the...

As long as you're running a stock motor the stock slipper works ok. Anything faster and I had a hard time keeping the stock slipper working right. A hydradrive won't fit under the stock gear cover, but just the Losi slipper will, the shaft will...
I've got about a couple of dozen machined gearbox top shafts for the TRX-1 which allowed the use of the RC10T slipper clutch. Did any other Traxxas vehicle share this gearbox or topshaft? Blue Eagle?
Last post
Yes . They use the early style slipper with the bearing but the later yellow slipper pad.
Using the same essential gearbox for basically 25 years now was smart of Traxxas. Once you get a gear design, there really shouldn't be any reason to change...
I recently received a Traxxas project car and I had questions about the differences / similarities between the TRX-1, TRX-3 & Blue Eagle transmissions. Based on pictures I've seen, the trans that's currently in the car is from a blue...

The TRX-1 case has 'TRX' molded into it on the side opposite the motor plate whereas the TRX-3 case does not.
The TRX-3 trans also has a slightly lower CG due to the diff gear being closer to the chassis. I mean literaly you can almost see it...
My plan is to take this RPM worlds conversion, clean it up and combine it with a 91 Detroit Worlds chassis to create a 2121 UK Revival entry. I think they should combine pretty seamlessly, am I right?

Nix91 is very different from the rpm worlds. You are better off getting the factory works chassis set. All your stuff will fit on it nicely.
This started as a project for a friend, but in the process of drawing it up and getting parts together I decided that I needed one too. The suspension arms, bellcranks, shock towers, battery cups, chassis, top plate, etc. were all designed by...

I found this interview with Masami Hirosaka and his protege Naoto Matsukura on YouTube. Masami gives a nice recollection of his experience, specifically the 2WD portion of the 1991 IFMAR World Championships held in Detroit. Some interesting tidbits...
