Hi

Post by peetbee »

Just thought I'd say hi, I'm over in the UK and trying to get more vintage cars running!
Last year I organised a vintage series at our local club. We had a good mix of cars - Top Force, Thundershot, Optima Mid SWB & LWB, some Traxxas (trx1 & 3), RC10s, Cougar 1 and so on.

This year's series is about to kick off and I was going to run a mint Mardave Cobra, amongst the XXs and vintage Tamiyas that have come out of the woodwork since last year, but when some of the RC10s started being dusted off I had to join them!

I've just bought a gold pan as run in the 2008 vintage meeting at Westbury by Chris Wright, some of you may recognise it

It hasn't arrived yet, but I've already ordered some spares and a new shell so that it will match my B4, B44 and RC18B1 :D
I'm looking forward to running it and will try and keep you guys updated on progress, I've seen a lot of tips for running it anyways!

Welcome! That car looks very familiar, but I can't remember where I have seen pictures of it before!

08 VONats racer. That's RCHR's track... pic likely courtesy mrlexan. ;)

Congrats on a nice purchase. That'll make a great racer for you and welcome to rc10talk!

Thanks :)
I have to admit picture was 'stolen' from the thread on here about the event. Didn't find it until after I bought the car!
Looking forward to running it, but don't know whether to get the chassis tidied up first - it's not so gold underneath!

For a runner at an event go add some more scratches to the bottom and enjoy, save the pretty ones for display.

You should have seen some of the cars running at last year's series, at least one (Kyosho Triumph) was new just built and had electrics fitted just for the event!
It's now gone back on the shelf so he can run some of the rest of his collection!
I probably will just leave it as is, I have an old SpeedPassion 9.5 brushless system to go into it with lipo

I ran a SWB Optima mid last year and managed to win the series - just! I doubt I can repeat that feat this year.
I'll see if I can dig out some pictures of last year's series and try and take some this year.

So far we have lined up to race: Kyosho Optima, Kyosho Optima Mid, Kyosho Lazer ZX, Traxxas TRX1, Traxxas TRX3, various RC10s (from 6 gear to Worlds, Tamiya Top Force, Tamiya Thundershot, Tamiya Boomerang, Losi XX, Schumacher Cougar 1 & 2. Also considering a 1994 to 1999 class to allow a RC10B2 and Cat 2000 out to play.
We're trying to tempt some others out with an Avante, Topcat, Cat xls amd more!
Fingers crossed it'll be good :D
