why me? are pinched nerves a "disease"?

Post by JK Racing »

A couple years ago, I blew a disc in my neck and ended with 5-6-7 vertebra fusion.

So I have been having probably one of the worst & weirdest headaches for the past 4 days. So I caved and went to the doctor, under the guise of odd headaches and a sinus pain & ear ache.

Doctors hits me with occipital neuralgia. Another pinched nerve? Really?

So a week of muscle relaxers & vicodin to attempt to end the problem.

Is this just bad genes or am I just cursed....sorry guys, I just needed to vent.

Hell as much as the average guy did here in our youth I am 1/2 surprised that any of us survived- all those years of "you'll pay for that when you are older" never struck a chord with me....but I pay now :? Hopefully the muscle relaxers do well for you-( Flexoral?) and you don't have to play with the hydrocodone much. Get well quick!

gotcha Reg, hoping I can get a nights sleep for the first time in 4+ days. Not flexoral, something I cant pronounce or attempt to spell without the bottle in front of me...took some @ 9, little past 10 now, still having the spasms, but they have slowed some.

Going to be interesting trying to commute in LA traffic while on meds...LOL.

if you're driving on the 215 near box springs park, in riverside, and see something flying towards your windshield don't freak out. it's just me throwing a rock. not your meds.

seriously? i have a brother that lives in those complexes across the street from those 2 dealerships.

i'm down visiting for some things. when i come i always hit up ocrc, west coast, and love to go here http://milestone-rc.com/. and the trails in the park directly across the highway are awesome too. that's why i bring the mountain bike.

back in april when i came, i visited ocrc and asked rb if they had a class for oldschool racing and he said no. but if enough people get involved he would start one. have seen any people bringing their old rigs?

They gave my wife Cyclo something for a relaxer, 10mg hydrocodone for moderate pain and
Oxycodone for big pain- the only thing that she takes occasionally is the relaxer- but I can't believe the Oxy and Vicodin that they prescribed her

I have me and one other buddy that will be campaigning them in the JBRL series, trying to get some more guys to bring them out to start a regular class. I know there is one other guy on the OCRC thread that says he wants to get his running also. It would be great to get a regular class running.

BTW, cyclobenzaprine (apparently generic for flexarol?)...

I can tell you that + the 5mg vic did nothing all last night, didnt even make me drowsy...dammit.

Okay, I'll go ahead and chime in since I feel like I have some experience with the back problem thing after crushing my T-spine last year.

I'm one of those guys that used to think chiropractors were witch doctors full of hooey. No longer. I used to hear people I know that would go to chiropractors and would just keep going, all the time, this made me think, "ehh, they are a scam, just looking for $$$" I still think this is true for many chiropractors, so research is important. After getting out of traction last year and hear repeated doctors tell me, "you're going to be in pain and on meds for probably the rest of your life" I explored some other avenues. A friend of mine pushed the chiropractic thing on me, said "I have this guy, he's not like other chiro's, he actually wants to not see you in his office". At this point I was really willing to try anything to not be doubled over in pain at the end of the day. The first time I went, I had the most comprehensive physical exam I've ever had, range of motion and joint deflection on every part of my body. From there started the treatment, for the next six weeks I went 2-3 times a week, the pain started going away, and with it a host of other things started working better in my body, respritory, digestion, sleep. jump ahead 10 weeks and I was put on "will call" where I would call in when I was in pain and needed some work. my frequecy of visits went down to about 1 every two months. I must admit, I believe I have one of those rare doctors that is more interested in health and humanity then their yearly profits, but I've also become a firm believer in chiropractic medicine. This was recently just reaffirmed for me. Mid January I was diagnosed with Migraines, not severe, but enough to warrant attention. I went to the doctor a few times, went on Sumatraptin/Immatrex, and that cut down the frequency and severity, but they were still there. I went to my chiropractor and within 4 visits in two weeks I have not had the slightest notion of the headache that I have had for the past month and a half.

Again, I know a lot of people don't subscribe to it, but I feel if you are open to it and research the doctors available you might have something to benefit from it. I also get great releif from Accupuncture, which I go to for general stress and well being.

Just my .02 Hope you find some relief, I know how much back pain can hinder enjoying life, I feel for ya.

Cursed? sounds more like havin fun with relaxors and vicodin...just gotta wash them down with a beer and your set

Been off the stuff for awhile myself and am no stranger to back and neck injuries. i don't really drink anymore but the stuff I had last time made up for it...then found out I wasn't supposed to be mixing them :? . Time will tell and hope its faster for you this time around since the older you get the longer it takes to recover. Good luck.

I'm gonna follow up with my regular doctor next week. I personally am anti-medication of most any type. But when my head feels like a sledge hammer hit it & my vision blurs, something has to give.

I like the chiropractor idea, I will #1 see if my insurance covers it, then #2 do research into who I may see.

I guess one positive is I have been able to catch up on some much needed GT5 time :). Went from level 9 to level 21 today (yes, my fingers are tired).
