I know nothing about that kit. Why is it so expensive?

Tanks are fun in pairs. kinda boring if you only have one.

Or, you could buy a brand new one with a perfectly fine box over a hundred dollars less. And, if you're a super saver member I'm sure the discount code for a $900 purchase is pretty good, plus free shipping.

You could say the same thing about buggies, trucks, on road cars, etc.shodog wrote:Tanks are fun in pairs. kinda boring if you only have one.

I just noticed that was a factory assembled model, so I guess that is a pretty good deal. I still would rather buy the kit though, building a tank is easily the most fun r/c building experience I've ever had. I've built three Tigers over the years, everyone should build a tank at least once.

Re: Scratch n Dent Panther Tank (NIB) at the Tamiya Site
I spent less than $1500 on my full decked out Tiger 1 and that's with an Aber photo etched set, Kenny Kong metal tracks, kit bashed driver and gunner figures and a bunch of other parts. It was fully converted from early production to mid production using parts from the King Tiger kit and other 1/16 model parts.
I've never owned a Tamiya pre-built kit, but I'm sure they're awesome. For me though, it was well worth it to put the tank together. This is the third Tiger I put together. I spent well over a month researching on the internet and in books. Then I spent another 6 or 8 weeks assembling the tank. It was a blast from start to finish.

Re: Scratch n Dent Panther Tank (NIB) at the Tamiya Site
I built a sweatshop in the back of my apartment and chained myself to the radiator until I finished the job. 18 hour days with no break and a bucket in the corner to do my business in. No open windows and no fans. I lost two fingers in an xacto accident and 20% of my vision in a paint explosion. It was a long and nasty month, but it was worth it in the end.tamiyadan wrote:my labor costs over 40$ an hour.

My brother had (built) the model that is next to the Yellow Rig.... The Red one. That just brought back some crazy memories! I love this hobby and the people in here are just awesome! I am glad to be a small part of it all.
