JRX chassis options.

Post by fredswain »

I know there were several chassis for the JRX2 series of buggies. The short wheelbase original graphite, the longer wheelbase graphite of the PRO, and the composites of the Pro-SE and Junior 2. It is the last 2 that confuse me a bit as I don't know what the differences are. I have 2 composite chassis and both are identical. They each have the outer 5 link upright mounting locations and only 1 wheelbase option in the back. This is what I'm a bit foggy about. I thought the Pro-SE chassis has the 5 link upright locations but 2 wheelbase options while the Junior 2 has no outer 5 link mount locations but only 1 wheelbase option. Clearly I am wrong somehow unless there is yet another chassis I don't know about. Which ones do I have?

the pro se /LX-T molded chassis did did not have the 5 link mounts and they did have 2 places to mount the rear suspenion. the junior 2/T chassis had 1 suspenion location and had the 5 link mounts

Thanks. That answers that. They are both the Junior 2 style.

For those out there who have driven the longer wheelbase option of the SE, how does it handle compared to the standard wheelbase? Is it more stable in rough fast sections but with less cornering? What are the tradeoffs?

That would be a pretty standard answer just in general. The longer car should be more stable and take away a little of the overall steering. On certain surfaces, however, a longer chassis can really rotate once it starts - usually called a "pendulum effect." I'd say in general terms, though, your thoughts are correct.

My JRX is already pretty long without the extended chassis. It's much longer than my RC10 or XX. The composite chassis already gave a pretty long wheelbase. I can't imagine running it much longer. I am currently building the front end with RPM long front truck arms, XX outer hubs, and Trinity wide axles so I can use XX wheels. I want to run this car with wide front wheels with 4WD front tires. After seeing the other cars at my local track, I feel that any of my cars can be quite competitive. I still have some unfinished business on the track with my old cars before I take the jump to something new.
