Re: BIN LADEN DEAD, the world celebrates
When I heard news of this I was suprised. Glad but still suprised they finaly flushed that rat out.
I remember the day of 9/11. It was horrible and even though I am not an American Citizen I have never felt so crushed. I will never forget those haunting images of those planes being steered into the twin towers.
I hope some substantial proof emerges and people can put their minds at rest to know BIN LADEN was actualy dealt what was coming and not a look alike or mistaken identity.
Seeing the images on the news of the U.S. citizens celebrating in the streets was a little strange. Not because they were celebrating mind you but because Bin Laden was only one man. In his time im sure he poisoned many minds in the name of his religious beliefs. Im sure im not alone thinking there will be others that will continue his evil work.
To those family members left to deal with the pain I am sure there will be some closure. I wish them well.

Re: BIN LADEN DEAD, the world celebrates
That’s the misconception, it was not his religion that was the problem, it was his followers and his personal "extremist" views, and how he twisted people to gain power for his own goals. He falsely used his "religion" to gain favour and support from the people for his own empire.
The Muslim religion is in fact one of the most gentle and peaceful religions. Unfortunately the "fanatics or extremists" have taken parts of that religion and twisted its words and teachings to suit their own maniacal ends. There are plenty of sicko's prepared to join them as well. This is much like there have been many Anglican/Catholic (and others) "holy wars" and attocities committed over the years - its the "ëxtremists" that take things to far for their own "gain" or twisted ideals. The Muslim people are NOT the only to ever have had "extremists" hijack their religion. Unfortunately when one person makes an a$$ of themselves and claims to be acting on behalf of a religion or nation - the whole country/religion gets "tarred with the same brush". One bad egg doesn’t make the dozen wrotten.
Just because something is "different" (religion) doesn’t make it wrong or "dangerous" for other nations or religions. Again - unfortunately the media feeds us a line of $#^% and feeds the sensationalist and propaganda driven views. This happens on BOTH SIDES of the fence.
I too feel a sense of "relief" that ONE of the major terrorists of the world has fallen. I was also deeply affected by what I saw on that day in September. I was also deeply affected by the bombings that focused on my countrymen in Bali and Jakarta. However, I am also ACUTELY aware that whilst one "extremist" may have fallen, the ones behind are as bad or worse - as now they have something to "emulate" and to honour.
The effort expended to get this individual was extraordinary, and the combined efforts of all agencies and forces should be applauded. However, "One swallow does not make a summer", it isn’t over, and to be honest - extremism probably never will be.
I just thank god every night that our forces, intelligence agencies and leaders are making every effort to ensure our security. I am sure the "other side" are also feeling the same way - as they are human too.
Cheers
Darryn

X1000. I am glad he's gone, but let's be the better people. Yeah, some celebrated when the towers fell, but that doesn't justify the same action in return. It's distasteful and we are better than that.Charlie don't surf wrote:I couldn't agree more, I was actually embarrassed to be from the US after watching college students dancing and partying over this, like it was a new drinking holiday-

I couldnt agree more their is no need for partying in the street. we only got one bad guy, yes one of the baddest. but still their like roaches until you get them all the problem only goes away for a short time. I am also torn, I am glad they killed him, their is no dought he deserved it. and their is no trial bull. but I also feel he got off kinda easy.

Re: BIN LADEN DEAD, the world celebrates
as a native new yorker i can understand the joy that people are feeling. when i was a punk kid i spent many an afternoon in that area.
i remember eating lunch with our backs to the tc and looking up to see it "curling" over us. now the city feels much different to me. our old route into the village isn't the same and it's just weird when we go down there now.
this mf'er deserved what he got and people should be able to express how they feel in any way they want as long as they don't harm anyone or anything in the process.
did i feel the urge to go down there myself, you bet i did.

Re: BIN LADEN DEAD, the world celebrates
I know that can't trust everything in the news, but I was surprised by some of the reaction of those in the Middle East and the fact that they are glad he's gone as well. They also mentioned that they killed more fellow Muslims that anyone else just cause they weren't extreme enough. Just thought it was interesting.
Let's continue to focus on the positive outcomes of this event and hopefully stability it may bring compounded with other current events in that region.

Re: BIN LADEN DEAD, the world celebrates
Why would you be surprised that people in the middle east are glad he's gone. He was never in favor with the majoritiy of people in that region.
Here is an interesting perspective on the kids in the streets of America celebrating:

Re: BIN LADEN DEAD, the world celebrates
The kids celebrating like that really don't know anything. To them its just another excuse to party. But hey thats the way you're expected to act at that age. I went away to college for a year and witnessed it first hand. The behavior I saw definitely wasn't for me.

The postitive outcome of this is that the world's biggest A-hole has had his brains blown out and now he's at the bottom of the sea.mrlexan wrote:
