Associated B3 Team

Post by Alex B »

Got this B3 today for a good price from eBay overall in reasonable condition, but it needs a few parts like chassis motor plate etc. It also came with a shed load of tyres and wheels. The plan is to restore it and use it as a runner. It's my first associated vehicle and first 2 wheel drive, I'm looking forward to the restore and running her.

The first questions is, can I use a modern B4 lay shaft and slipper? The plan is to run it with a 8.5t brushless motor and lipos.

You can use the b4 top shaft and slipper with spur! Nice find, I would run it with the hand cut battery slots in the chassis! That was a nice mod to do back in the day. Maybe just tidy up the slots a bit!

Nice car, bet you got it for a song! How much $ ?

Thanks. I got it for £65 not too bad with all those tyres. I also got a few spares with it.

Ive fitted a b4 layshaft and slipper system with ease. You will need to remove the foam washer on the outside of the gearbox tho.

Id also use the chassis as is but get zepin cell hole brass weights as youll need it and also buy losi 1042 axles and some uj spacer washers as this gives 2mm more length on the uj and stops them popping out and gives more droop if needed. Shock towers can be bought via kamtec if needed.
