Don't Buy Modern Warfare 3 !!!!!

Post by slotcarrod »

Do not waste your money on COD MW3! Very bad on line play with lot's of bull crap no scoping and unrealistic super fast play on very cramped maps! I wasted $200 on 2 copies of the hardened edition and I can't even down load the content YET!

I have played all the COD games and have even been tenth prestige in one. So I'm no newb to the game! My son, who is a much better player than me is fed up with the game as well. On the other COD games he is always on top of the leader board and now he scores low! The replays show bull crap no scoping and impossible kills! WTF!

So we sent a message to COD MW3's Facebook about the no scoping problem and 3 minutes later we were blocked and deleted from their Facebook comments! WOW! They don't like any criticism!

I'm going to check out Battlefield 3! Some of my on line clan have told me this is the game to play! BTW, they hate MW3 as well!

My nephew went to a midnight release here. I'll have to get his opinion. The last midnight release I went to was for the Metallica black CD. I was not disappointed! :P

I played video games 24/7 'til about 2001 and then just stopped almost altogether. :? I've tried a bunch of the modern games, but just can't get into them. Brutal Legend on PS3 is about the only exception, but even that got old to me after a bit. I always end up back on my original Nintendo or Super Nintendo.

Sorry you blew all that coin on such a disappointment. The last time I spent a lot of money only to be disappointed in the end was when I said "I do". J/K Honey!

I actually enjoy MW3. Online play is a bit of a blend between MW2 and Black OPS. If you've done much online play in the COD series, you should be used to the frustration of getting quick- or no-scoped. I thought they were getting out the quick-scope, but it's still there.

Battlefield 3 isn't as "fun" as MW3 online. It's better than HomeFront was, but it feels a lot like the same game. I would say that Battlefield 3 is more "realistic" game play but MW3 is standard COD game play. I think its a good game.

I feel the same way about the Halo series. The first one rocked it out of the park, the second was a poor sequel at best, though some of the additional abilities, such as all weapons having the ability to scope is great. The third I've not played much, but it was impossible to differentiate anything from anything else. You literally couldn't see the path for the jungle, not to mention the moronic process to set the game up. The original was an exercise in simplicity and then Bungie just got stupid.

I loved MW2 and then got sucked in by Black Ops hardcore. I tried playing MW2 last week and I didn't like it as much. I'll play MW3 after someone buys it and let's me borrow it.

As for halo, I've only played Halo Reach and I am NOT a fan. I don't like the way you drive the cars foremost, but I don't know what it is about that game but I just don't care for it. I want a new black ops. I love nukeyown and the firing range maps. The jungle, WMD, and summit are fun maps as well.

Super fast play as in the guys run fast?
No scoping like guys shooting from across the map shooting from the hip?
And finally cramped maps like nukeyown on black ops?

My only complaint on black ops is that people can camp out at your spawn point and kill you before you can move.

That sucks to hear Rod! I just bought COD4 Modern Warfare for $15.99, which is pretty good as of this morning. I guess it pays to behind in time with the gaming scene.

I got to play something while at work. I passed on getting the Wraith to bring up. I should have spent the $400 and sucked up the angry phone calls from my wife while away at work

I'm glad I stopped at Duke Nukem 3D. Sounds like it's been downhill ever since.

Seriously though, I will retain all this information while Christmas shopping for my video-game addicted nephews.

Best ever multiplayer games for me (yeah I'm old enough to remember playing these games on a 33.6 dial-up modem):

Quakeworld: This multiplayer modification of the original Quake allowed players to create or download their own player & weapon skins. I remember being intimidated at first and just logged in with "spectator" mode and just laughing my ass off watching the guts & gore as a crackwhore telefragged Spiderman or Barbie was gibbed by the Predator. The frantic action in the smaller levels just made it more funny! I finally got up the guts to join a game and was hooked ever since.

Quake 2: Unlike the frantic guts-flying action in Quake, Quake 2 was so much more eerie, the atmosphere was much spookier, and you needed more strategy than just running around with a rocket launcher . The different weapons all had their pros & cons. I think this was my favorite multiplayer game of all time.

Aliens vs. Predator 2: The hardest character to master in the multiplayer version of this game was the Alien. You had no weapons, no ranged attacks, just stealth & your claws/headbite/tail stun attacks. Time your pounce wrong and you were dead. The majority of people playing as aliens weren't even using the 2 aspects that gave the alien character its unique advantages: walking on walls/ceilings and being stealthy. They'd just run & jump around on the floor like all the other humans/preds, like every other FPS game. You'd appear on people's motion sensors when you moved when you played like that. But I wanted to master the most difficult character to play and learned how to speed along ceilings, walls, hide in ducts and other dark places before pouncing on victims. The atmosphere in AvP2 was also one of the spookiest of any multiplayer game I played.

All those multiplayer games lost their fun value as they more and more got exploited by cheaters, auto-aimers & script-fags (as we used to call them).

To me modern video games just don't have the heart like they used to. They pump them out on a weekly basis like they're nothing. Same with things like smart phones for example. It also seems to me like most of the emphasis is put on the graphics these days which are important but shouldn't take precedence. I guess thats just the type of world we live in now.

I would agree. I'd also say that too much emphasis is put towards online gaming rather than game play itself - multi-player (offline ) modes, player vs player modes, player vs computer modes, story-lines, and such.

I have been a gamer for nearly 25 years. I like the graphics of some of the newer games but many of them are disappointing on so many levels. They are way too serious and realistic for my tastes. I did like the original COD and Medal of Honor had it's points too. I also got a kick out of the mindless gameplay of the old Delta Force Series multiplayer maps, mostly Black Hawk Down. Lately, the only thing I play with any frequncy is Team Fortress 2. I love the rapid play and goofy characters and cartoony graphics. It's a great game to drop into and play for a few minutes to help unwind from a stressful day. Best part is it's free! :)

I agree. I played the campaign on black ops an beat it in under 7hrs. I liked the old games where it took months to beat them.

I didn't really know where else to put this, but I heard a comedian talking about playing MW3 on-line so I've been watching some youtube vids of funny stuff. I'm not real familiar with on-line gaming so if anyone knows some better ones please share. I'm off all week.

Moment 3 had me in tears!
