Nvxwax's Trailing Arm Hot Trick Build (Updated 05/12/12)
Ok i am going to try to do an actual build thread lol, I always build things and post pics after the build (A&L build), I dont have all the parts to this build yet so im thinking that will slow me down and help with a actual build thread
Timing is everything...
I got two Hot Trick Trailing arm sets about 2 weeks ago, I have never seen a built HT trailing arm RC10 on the board (Might be one i have not found), anyway i sold one set and keep a set for future use in case i ever found a chassis worthy of the Trailing arm set Well as it turns out a request/offer to Goatless i had a almost complete chassis set that was in mint condition (Big Thanks To Goatless).
I originally was going to build an all new Thorp 48 pitch 6 gear for the build, well good timing in the BST area landed me a very nice MIP trans. I didn't know the condition from the picture but i could not pass it up, Well when i received it i was floored, it looked like it might have been mounted to a chassis but never ran, the gears are brand new (Big Thanks to sgirouard).
Q: Anybody know what MIP Trans this is? I have seen some but not with the shaft and nut sticking out of the side. It looks factory cut.
I will have to swap out the rear shock tower with one from my other HT build (RC10 Retro), the tower that is with this chassis is a one hole, the tower needed with the trailing arm kit is a two hole.
I also have a set of original AE chrome plated wheels that im going to use on this build, they are wrapped with Proline 1011 Rear Champion Tires and Proline 1018 Front Knobby Tires
Like i said i still have to source a few parts for the build but im sure i will find them at some point (I hope sooner then later), the main part im looking for is a HT Wide Front Skid (New)

Re: Nvxwax's Trailing Arm Hot Trick Build (The Start)
That is an SP1-Plus MIP trans case, should normally include a gear diff and the protruding nut is part of a torque limiter supposed to save the diff gears.

nvxwax,
What kind of motor mount plate are you going to use?
Also I would like to have one of those trailing arm kits too please.
Missed this little gem on Ebay awhile back too!

Remember it's either a runner or a shelfer. Everything else is just parts.
