The first and last of the Optima's.

Post by Bormac »

Just a quick pic snapped this evening while trying to get ready for a vintage racing meeting that Retro R/C has been puting together in Sydney.

I have decided to go back to my roots for this event. I started out with the original Optima and have always wanted to run it again all these years later. This car has been rebuilt completely adding many tasty Option House and after market bits to aid with reliabilty. All the alloy was deep polished to a splendid shine and with the cover off it looks great!

Also my love for the Mid Custom Special will be coming along for some high speed fun too.

I hope to get some more pics up soon.

Nice Optimas Bormac! I still hem and haw about the custom special body... I think I will use one down the line on an ultima project. I think one of the keys to making that body look its best is proper window masking. As for the meet, I will be anxiously awaiting new action pics form you and Darren (RetroRC right?). Hope you guys post them here, or at least link to the thread from rctech. (I don't do RCtech, 10talk handles my fix enough already :D )

They look great!

Although technically the Custom Special is only the last Optima in name only, since Kyosho's first touring car was essentially a Mid with narrow suspension...

Interesting. I figured I needed a thread name so I went with this

My Optima is definately far from standard too. I think the shock towers make the suspension work a heck of a lot better. Kind of like the late Mid style.
