Wide Body Touring Car TTech Predator
For your viewing pleasure
My mate picked this up over the weekend - we competed in the 24hr race up at Ardent Raceway & all of Dez Chand's (former editor of Radio Race Car magazing but unfortunately passed away last year) cars/bits were set-out on a table for sale, at the end of the meeting the old Predator (that i'd kept eyeing up) was still sitting there, when the chap who was selling this stuff said 'does anyone want this before I throw it in the bin' - my mate heard this & quickly saved it from its wheelie-bin fate
We are going to offer it to a chap in our club who may appreciate it more & perhaps have a few spares for it as up until recently he was running a predator DTM car...... also I have far too many project on the go & R/C cars hanging around!
Just wondered if you guys that are more-in-the-know about these cars could tell me more about this particular chassis.... all I know is that it must be an earlier car given the carbon tub?

Re: Wide Body Touring Car TTech Predator
any serial number on the chassis dan? early car's started with 3 & 4's, the gold motor mount and shock mount's are from the original 93 xt car's and the hard ano/blue cap's shocks & driveshaft are from the 95 pro, id say it's a 93 buggy with 95 upgrade's and touring car body mount's.
Re: Wide Body Touring Car TTech Predator
I'd agree, it looks a mixture of XT and 95 pro buggy with touring mounts on it. Really cool buggies, and would look awesome with a 235mm body on it, somthing like a 6R4 or RS200...

Re: Wide Body Touring Car TTech Predator
Thanks for the info guys - had a quick Google search before posting this thread & kind of came to a similar conclution but not being particularly familiar with these rather exotic 4wd buggies/touring cars I wasn't 100% sure. I noted the gold anodised parts but wondered if the blue shocks may have been shorter for the on-road application that this buggy was used for?
Is there anywhere where someone has listed a timeline for the Predator buggy - a bit like 'Dual' has done for the Yokomo cars??

Re: Wide Body Touring Car TTech Predator
The predator timeline roughly, years might not be exactly correct...
Predator (1993)
Predator XT (1994)
Predator 95 Pro (1995)
Predator 95 Tee (1995)
Predator 95 One (1995)
Predator International (1996)
Predator National (1996)
Predator XK5 (1997)
Predator XK98 (1998)
Predator ETQ (1999?)
Predator P8 (2001)
Predator X10
Predator X11 (2007)
I think there might have been a few special editions too, like a worlds etc.
Easiest way to tell roughly what era yours is, is by the serial number. Usually found on a sticker on the inside right of the tub.

Re: Wide Body Touring Car TTech Predator
Thar car looks pretty nice, sadly most of these Predators seem to have become a mish mash of odd bits from various versions of the Predator as its been updated over the years. Be careful if you're trying to put it back to a specific model year, as there's very few references to go by.

Re: Wide Body Touring Car TTech Predator
The serial number is partially obscured by some tape residue - but I can just make out the first digit as a '3' so presumably it was originally a 93 car?
The car has now been passed onto Rich from our club who has vowed to do it proud
