I say the Losi shares more with the Ultima than anything... I mean you can interchange the front towers easily, the geometry of the whole front end is extremely close. The rear suspension mount is nearly identical in design too. I think there are pictures of the prototype phase of Jrx2 development where the test bed IS an Ultima.

My.02 about the whole WHich car is better is this: If you can drive well, you can win with any of them. Honestly, I never raced my Jr car well, but it was because I hadn't LEARNED to drive a buggy. I gained successful driving skill in a race truck, an LS2 from Traxxas. THEN I transferred the LEARNED ability to drive to buggy with a XX. When I went to a RC10 worlds car, I still drove it well. I finished my GOOD racing days in a XXcr.

Now, in regards to running these old cars, I was very happy with the RC10 I built, I love my Ultima Pro, and I'm sure my JRx2 will drive pretty much the same when I finish it. It REALLY is ALL about the driving SKILL. ANY car can be the winner on race day. SO no chassis is inherently better than any other. (I bet Brandon G would agree with that, he's done well with all of them at the VONATS, right?)

I lay down my pen. :D

"Copy" can mean so many things, I prefer the word influenced. The whole front end was influenced by Associated. The layout of the chassis, steering, position of the motor and plate shape, that kind of thing. It obviously isn't a direct copy, but followed the design. If Associated never built a RC10, we would have not had a JRX2- but i still think we would have had as much evolution in the Associated camp as Kyosho and Schumacher, and a host of others would have still kept competition alive. I don't think Associated needed Losi (as a company) but Losi definately needed Associated

When I said I thought the JRX2 'copied' the RC10 I was kind of writing in the words of the way I felt when I was 15 and this went down. The most relevant phrase of this whole thread is "..if Associated never built a RC10, we would have not have had a JRX2". This just about says it all. Interestingly I forgot about the Kyosho Ultima. Had a lot of respect for those cars. I just came across this forum and things are starting to come back to me!.. I do certainly remember I always wanted a Kyosho Optima, or later on that Turbo Optima Mid! Never did get it :(

Does that make the"12LC" a joint venture by Lett and losi?
The "L" in the 12L was for team driver Gil Losi Jr's modifications and win on the 12e platform (or something of that nature). The LC was the car Masami won the worlds with, 97? And it was either a C for championship or Cliff Lett-
Didn't the 12LW come before the 12LC ?
