Crazy, But is AE testing for a re-re RC-10?
I know Facebook is a source of evil, but it can also provide us with updates. For example I follow my localtrack on facebook and am given updates on sales, open houses and upcoming events. I have noticed a recent trend that Associated keeps posting RC-10s(latest being the Dead Pool rc-10). I know this is a long shot, and just a crazy thought I had, but could they be testing the waters to see how popular they still are for a possible re-release..
Recall the discussion about the SandScorcher never being re-released again, and then it was. Just a thought, and something to talk about.

That would be really amazing. I think from the standpoint of all the modern racers who may not be on this forum, many would remember it from the 1980s and nostalgia might get them to buy a re-re kit if it were to be produced.
Add in the 2 or 3 kits each of us would buy...

Seems to me that there was talk of this a while ago. The people in the know said it most likely would never happen because associated never kept or destroyed alot of the tooling they used for the origonals. Mabye someone from the inside can set us straight

I don't think it will happen and its been discussed many times over with rumors etc. I think it would be cool though. It may have more to do with honoring the founders of AE who are in their later years now (as seen in the goldenyearsofrc museum photos)

Re: Crazy, But is AE testing for a re-re RC-10?
I know there is frequent discussions of these type things, but I had a thought. Much is said about lost and or destroyed molds... Associated is still making/selling almost everything fro the front end, everything but the outdrives and case for the stealth, and rear arms didn't discontinue THAT long ago. Seems to me the only RE-tooling they'd have to do is the pan, nose plate, rear bulkhead and suspension mounts, outdrives and trans case... That's not like tooling up for the entire car.. ... Just saying' Maybe they could jus tool for a case that'd fit the RC10 but take the B4 internals...Give us a drill plate with patterns for the square hole in the pan. Okay, I'lll stop now.

Re: Crazy, But is AE testing for a re-re RC-10?
I can understand why this would excite people so much but I would rather just have Associated keep pumping out the important parts than entire kits. There are already so many RC10's on the used market that I personally dont see a reason. They would make WAY more money in RC10 lexan bodies that fit better than the Chinese thunder tiger stuff now. Along with high wear parts like steering bellcranks, outdrives, re-introduce all stealth transmission parts and six gear bits.. etc to keep everyone on the road.
I collected Tamiyas for a long time because of the exclusivity of the kits and parts and the thrill of the hunt, not for any kind of monetary value however. Now that all the Re-re's are out I have even less motivation to collect Tamiya kits except for the stuff that they will never reproduce like most of the first 20 kits.

Re: Crazy, But is AE testing for a re-re RC-10?
well i heard rite from the horses mouth at the last RCX expo in long beach
will it happen only time will tell.
when i asked about all the tooling being gone
he said there was a few things that where gone
but they wouldnt be any problems to make with modern technology
he also said that every part made on the re release would be marked with
a none removable mark making it specific to the re release
so it wouldnt impact after market vintage collectibility parts
if it happens cool if it dont oh well
i think it will and i think it will be a trend with some of the major players to cash in on the re relese
movement
if i was a CEO of a CO i would be crazy not to
thx farmer

i would suspect that they put up gene's dead pool car up because the movie just clicked the 25 year mark. it's still an awesome movie today.
someone at the office must of found the photos to post up for everyones enjoyment. the same reason why they have the toyota body shod rc10. i think that toyota was one of the other buggies stolen from gene's office as well.

It would be a no brainer for Team Associated, surely??
They are guaranteed to sell a mountain of them, and as to not having the tooling, make new tools!!

I suppose that by the time they got the tooling made, parts created, packaging done, and marketing ready, they could release a re-re as a 30th Anniversary special. 2014, maybe?
