I forgot about those Marc (sorry). However even though Kyosho made some plastic cars back then they weren't cheapening the models by releasing cheaper versions, if anything cars like the Rocky were rereleased as Turbo Rocky etc...
Unfortunately when they started selling the Ultima II, Lazer Alpha etc.. they were taking great cars and flogging cheap nasty ones. Kelron. Pfft.

That's true, I always got the sense of quality from Kyosho's cars, even at the lower price points. Maybe it was because they had the reputation of making "serious" race cars with the Optima & Ultima series and successors...Tamiya was never really known for making race cars, just good-quality hobby-grade cars...and probably that good rep filtered down to their lower-end models, I suppose.
Completed projects: CYANide Onroad Optima | Zebra Gold Optima | Barney Optima | OptiMutt RWD Mid
Gallery - Coel's Stalls: Marui Galaxy & Shogun Resto-Mods | FrankenBuff AYK Buffalo | 1987 Buick GNX RC12L3
