My Optima mid

Post by biff85ta »

I have been kind of messing with it today and thought i would post up a couple of pics and see what anyone can fill in for me. I know it has the kyosho graphite chassis kit, lite speed heat sink motor plate, trinity rear shocks (for now till I get the kyosho golds rebuilt) and A@L steering. It also has a ball diff in the rear and a one way in the front. I put the proline reds on the stock wheels and will be finishing out making it a runner shortly when I get time to throw some electronics in it.

Looks great with those silver wheels on it!
The wishbones don't look standard to me, can we see a pic from underneath, they may be MPP or Andy's

Interesting cut-down of that sideplate where the MSC would be mounted to. :) Also, what happened to the Litesink heatsink? Without that, it's kind of not doing any good at cooling.

I forgot to mention about that cut down plate

We cut one down for a friends build but did it a little differently
This part is now anodised blue, when we start putting his together I'll start a thread for it

Now that's what I'm talking about! No reason to keep that extra triangular section there if the car's not going to use the original MSC anymore.

I tried to make the part look as if it was always made that way but I could only do so much

The cut down part on the car in the pics only mounts to two screw holes not three so defeats the purpose of that part a little. Vintage Kyosho on eBay has the original part for the Turbo Mid for sale at the moment.

I have another variation again on that part in Carbon but that will have to wait till I eventually start building what I have now dubbed "21st Century Mid" which I keep getting new ideas for unfortunately

Interesting brace Dan, I made an alloy one from scratch using the smaller FRP Turbo Mid version as a template.

biff85ta, those A-arms look like "Andy's" arms, if you have a close look you'll see "Andy's" printed on them, assuming they are of course.

The rear arms don't look like the MPP ones I have on Turbo Optima Mid SE-X so I think they are possibly Andy's too

I wonder if Pargu would make that Turbo Mid brace on the CNC

What I'd love is a blue anodised OT-93

I have an original A&L Optima Mid heatsink motor plate in great condition and I am debating if I anodise it blue or leave it as is because of how rare the part is

It never ends when you start building these things does it!

I forgot to mention it but the arms are indeed Andy's and the heatsink is in my toolbox I just haven't put it on yet. I have another mid that was converted to oval duty but do not have enough parts to put a spur on it. I think I am going to put an ASA camaro body on it and hve something a little different than all my offroad stuff.
