My Losis, not sure what they are.

Post by terry.sc »

I had a sort through my cars this weekend, so thought I'd better finally take some pictures of them. I know Losi made several versions of each model with few differences, so any help identifying exactly what they are would be helpful. The 2wds were bought locally with plenty of spares so I think I've got all the missing parts needed to restore them.

First, my Pro SE. Schumacher shocks on the rear, and I've got a spare upper chassis brace somewhere.

Next my LXT, got a NIB body, body mount and gear cover for this.

My XX, I'm guessing it's an original XX even though there's CR stickers on the body, it's one of several bodies that came with it and the only decent one.

My current 4wd race buggy, XX4WE spec I think. E-Speed front shock mount brace, Trinity motor mount and diff outdrive savers, EA3 XXCR VLA rear suspension. Trinity Street Weapon front bumper as the original bumper was missing when bought, and it does provide a bit better protection considering it won't be flying over huge jumps. Original XX4 body, I have a more basic later hot weather shell for racing. I don't have saddle lipos so all the electrics sit down one side.

great buhnch of cars you have there. the easiest way to tell CR from original it the t-plate and rear hinge points are 1 pc on OG and 2 pc on CR
Sleeps with a night light on, not because he's scared of the dark but because the dark is scared of him...........stay thirsty my friends

The XX certainly looks like an original DoubleX as opposed to a CR - judging by the rear wishbones & velcro battery straps, green & red springs were standard kit on the XX also. Many CR/Kinwald XX owners reverted back to the original rear end as it was found to be more stable & easier to drive. Your five spoke wheels however were standard fit on the CR.

Both your XX & the Pro SE are fitted with Xcellerator bodyshells which was the shell that came in the Kinwald kits but was a common retro-fit for many XX owners who wanted to update the 'look' of their cars.

Thanks guys.

Checked the XX T-plate and it is an original XX. So the XX is either an original with a Kinwald body and wheels, or a Kinwald that's been modified with an original rear end. Never followed Losi, everyone local had Schumacher, Kyosho or Associated, not helped with no one locally stocking Losi either so my knowledge of them is more limited than some.

Most likely an original XX with the Kinwald shell - the Kinwald also reverted back to dished wheels  only the CR came with the 5 spokes but were commonly brought separately by racers. The Kinwald came with many upgraded/different parts - nearly all the main 'plastic' parts were graphite including the chassis, nitrided gold shock shafts, twin disc slipper & a thinner profile front shock tower.

Just had another look at the shell on the Pro SE & I think on 2nd glance that its a Jammin shell but is quite similar to the Xcellerator with the narrow rear portion & large windows.

Around these parts (despite the proximity of the Schumacher factory) the Losi cars were very popular - not so much the early JRX series but the XX was certainly the most popular 2wd at the local clubs - even at regional & national level!
