87t b4 gear
Just bought one of these. I want to use it on on an REC 1:2.25 transmission. Besides the pads do I need to get anything else specific to the b4 slippers? And what motor would be recommended. If this has been covered please point me to the appropriate topic.

Re: 87t b4 gear
b4 top shaft, slipper plates, spring nut and pads. that gear may not fit under a gear cover.

Re: 87t b4 gear
when i did my b4 one, i did the vts slipper but it might be too big for a standard gear cover. do you know what gear cover you plan on using?
I have the alloy sc10 one at moment and can do some test fits if you want to see if it will work depending on which setup you do.

I did not have a solution for the gear cover in mind, but I like the idea of the aluminum one. Dmat Could you do those test fits? I'm very curious to see if that would work. The b4 top shaft, will that work in the 2:25 transmission. Thanks for the input guys.

Re: 87t b4 gear
I only bought the parts for the vts version but i think the normal outer hub works on the b4 gear too so i should be able to do a test fit. The b4 gear cover does fit over the vts so the sc10 might fit both. I gotta dig out my parts (in 1 of 3 boxes) since I never fully unboxed all my parts after moving. I'll have an update later today.

Re: 87t b4 gear
So after doing a test fit, the normal b4 setup works. he're what it looks like with the gear cover on. a few notes, the cover sits extremely close to the outdrive. Its also clear anodized so it doesnt fully match yet. I'm playing around with removing anodizing before i use it on this gear cover.

Dang!
Alright that's definitely the route I want to go. How close to the out drive would say? It does not fully match the REC transmission you mean?

Re: 87t b4 gear
its so close that if you put the edge of a dollar bill in there, it would feed it thru. Its gotta be maybe 0.5-0.3 mm of space. keep in mind im keeping the cover's edge flush with the motor plate. it can be moved around to increase the space up to 1.5 mm or so. plenty of room. the cover also only mounts with 1 screw like the other b4 covers do. you could try to drill another hole but it wouldnt be fully enclosed.
the gear cover is on integy under the sc10 selection.
There is another thread about that gear cover in this section. If you still looking for some parts for your build, Many b4 parts work on the rc10 and many sc10 parts worked on the b4 so some of them should work. I've been reading around a lot about the alloy parts but some just cant be gotten without having a machine shop make them. The gear cover was luck to get.
