Russian dashcam lunacy
Not sure if you guys ever watch these but it's amazing to see what a free-for-all driving is over there. This vid has many crashes I don't think I had seen before. And, there seems to be an infinite supply of this footage!
The logs on the truck at 13 minutes has to be my favorite.

Re: Russian dashcam lunacy
We used to joke about the Russian body shop next door, they would literally cut the bad half off and scab on from another totaled car. It all makes sense now.

Re: Russian dashcam lunacy
I watched the whole 30 minutes, and at the end of it, the only point I could come to is that there must be as many in-car video cameras in Russia as there are good drivers..... oh, and seat belts are for people who don't have accidents... oh, and Russian cars are made of tin-foil....

Re: Russian dashcam lunacy
When I was in Egypt being driven about I was pretty on edge. There were five lanes of weaving traffic on a three lane road. Cars would cut in front with inches to spare. No room is left anywhere. All of a sudden cars swerve all over to avoid a camel in the road carrying a car sized green bush. Insanity does not come close. I thought were were going to crash once per minute at least. This was a normal day apparently.

I always laugh at these videos. There's millions of them on YouTube. It seems to be a requirement to have a video camera in your car there.

I've noticed too with all of the in car video cameras with audio, there must be only one radio station in Russia! Dance/trance/techno...

Re: Russian dashcam lunacy
Looks like there's one rule to stick with if driving in Russia. At any junction if the traffic lights are green, slow down and check nothings coming first.

I don't know about Russia, but dashboard cameras in commercial vehicles and buses are quite common in the UK these days. It's to combat insurance fraud, car pulls in front of bus/truck then jumps on the brakes so they get hit from behind. This gang meant my area was officially an accident blackspot and we had higher insurance premiums until they were caught.Incredible_Serious wrote:I watched the whole 30 minutes, and at the end of it, the only point I could come to is that there must be as many in-car video cameras in Russia as there are good drivers....

Re: Russian dashcam lunacy
From what I've read, the dash cams in Russia are there to prevent insurance companies swindling you out of money and corrupt cops claiming you did something you didn't.

Except for the part where the guy hits you from behind because you slowed down and he had no intention of slowing down himself... weather there was a place for him to go or notterry.sc wrote:Looks like there's one rule to stick with if driving in Russia.
