RC10T4.1 Brushless Upgrade Options

Post by Sharky »

I have a stock brushless setup for my truck and am looking to upgrade the motor to something with a little more power. Without checking the spec sheet, it seems to me the current motor is 3300kv unit. How far can you safely raise the power before needing to upgrade to metal bits for the drivetrain?

Thanks for any info.

first you'll need a sensorless motor. most racing brushless motors are sensored, but the rtr stuff is not.
the drivetrain can handle a pretty powerfull set up, but i wouldn't go to crazy.

something in the 4000-5000kv range will be where you want to look. anything higher then that is kinda too fast for a 2wd truck.
i know hobbywing has a pretty extensive selection of sensorless motors.

you will also have to adjust your gearing for the hotter motor.

Thanks Kaiser, just the kind of info I needed.

I have just upgraded my B4 to a hobbywing Xr10 juststock esc and 13.5T motor. so far it seems really good for the money.
