Gold tub rework and refinish - have questions

Hi all, I have recently acquired an A-stamp gold tub. The top looks ok, but the ano is a little blotchy now. The underside though is scratched and gouged from use in the normal areas.

I would like to look into the options of refinishing the tub.

First, what success have you guys had in trying to prep or take out the scratches in the underside? What options do I have?

Second, I would like to anodize it, if I can. What sources do I have for options on this that you guys would recommend? How much can I expect for such a service?

Or would a powder coater be a better option?

gomachv has great info regarding anodizing. they tend to anodize in batches, so the more the merrier to a point, because there is a minimum charge. you can look at anywhere from 40-100 bucks for a batch.

same deal for powder coating, though there are many more local guys that can do that.

Powder coat is best to hide flaws and great for runners

Anno shows everything. You need to strip and polish to a mirror finish to obtain a "nice" finish. I just strip, sometimes sand, and send them back in for anno and they are ok but I refuse to spend that much time making them perfect. A batch of anno is $40, you can do 4-5 full chassis and pieces pretty easy for that. If you want the parts stripped it is $20, but being a distance away I would just have that done in advance and do your polishing etc first. I can provide an address as phone number for my anno shop, I probably won't be handling anymore group deals.

Some of the high end anno guys provide a nicer finish with attention to detail. They are more expensive but spend a lot of time on the finish.
