What do you mean by you're "done with it"? You want to sell it, or you don't feel inclined to drive it or further upgrade it?

I'm very slow to say a project car is "done" until it's well and truly finished, with all the wrinkles ironed out and the car actually runs exactly how I want it to. But once I consider it "done", I'm probably not going to do anything more to the car.

Actually, if I get something well and truly finished, I'm more likely to keep it. It's the half-finished projects that sit around for ages that end up on the chopping block.

I have to make rounds every once and a while and see if there were things I missed- or things I forgot. I'll just grab one off the shelf and go over it, return it to the shelf and grab the next. I can usually find something that was out of place or a part I have since acquired that are better than the ones on it. I just went thru my houge car yesterday and replaced all the dyed parts with white take offs, for example

For the most part I build r/c's to run  I guess that's why I like the rc10 the most, you can build/customize them so many different ways 8)
If I drive a particular car or truck too much I may get a little bored with it and then run something else for a while  Speaking of which, rc10T snow truck almost done wooohoo

I've never really had the collector gene. That's probably for the best because there's no way I could afford the hoarding some people do, with any hobby or niche.

But I definitely don't feel bored with my finished projects, maybe because of the amount of work and customization that went into them. I know I wouldn't have the same fondness with my cars if they were all box-arts, because you've seen one, you've seen 'em all. But I confess to sometimes taking my cars off the shelf--even the ongoing projects--and feel self-satisfaction at what I've accomplished.

I think I'm a bit like this... I'll rebuild a car that I get from eBay, forums, a garage sale, or wherever.... add new parts if I have them, and get it to a completed state... and then, more often than not, it'll go on the chopping block. I suppose for myself, though, that I don't do restore work like a lot here, with all new parts, rebuilt everything, new in pack upgrades, or even (gulp!) cleaning every part!!! About 90% of my rebuilds are taking a busted-up chassis and turning it back into a complete car again.

It's the 10% that stay with me.... not sure if that's because I like them so much, or if they just don't ever look like getting finished!!!!

Interesting topic.....
