GOD is on someone's side!
After a long weeks work, and having only one day to rest, I awoke to 3 feet of snow today. As I went to my shed ( to get fuel for my snow blower) I noticed fresh tracks in the snow. since it had snowed all night, and I was in bed, I was suspicious, as no tracks came from the road, to the shed, and garage, only around the two structures. Someone at night/early morning had broke into my next door neighbour's garage, then jumped our fence, tried to enter mine, but failed, but did compromise the lock on my shed, and entered. Not sure if anything is missing, but we will see. The Police are on the way, and wanted to leave everything as is. I am a good natured man at heart, and can be very forgiving....... However.....had the intruder and myself met, I am almost, (with no doubt in my mind) 100% positive one of use would not have had a very merry Christmas. I have zero tolerance for my home being compromised!, and very eager to engage anyone who does so. I am very sorry to come out like this, but it sit's heavy on my mind, and just wanted to vent.... what is even odder, is that they took the ladder off my fence, and went on the roof of the garage, made a clearing in the snow, and it looks like they just sat there
Thank you.

get a few of those magnetic screacher things. they only cost a few bucks and AA or AAA battery and are loud as hell when they go off. Just place them on the door opening and wait for the fun to begin.

Re: GOD is on someone's side!
Wow your Police actually came out? Calgary police, when my motorcycle was stolen from my garage, never came over to get prints, but kindly asked me to talk to all the neighbours if they had seen anything!
Calgary Police are useless!
They are only good at setting up speed traps in unmanned construction zones!
Hope you did not lose anything! The problem with Canadian laws and protecting property is you have no right to lay down a beating unless you have solid proof of your life being in danger! I would shoot the cock and place a knife in his hand!

Re: GOD is on someone's side!
Edmonton Police are just as bad. Today, I got a photo radar ticket. I was driving home late at night from a hockey game a few weeks ago and saw the light flash in my rear-view. I wasn't driving fast at all, so I was like "Wtf??!"slotcarrod wrote:Wow your Police actually came out? I got an $80 ticket for going--get this--13 km/h over the limit. Are you fricking serious?? 63 km/h in a 50 is "speeding" now??! That's the lowest over the limit in my life thus far where I got a ticket. Goddam bacon and their revenue-generating photo radar scams...

Re: GOD is on someone's side!
Bummer, Marlo. Even though nothing is missing, ya just feel violated when someone breaks into your vehicle, home or an outbuilding.
Despite the "wild west" impression that the rest of the world seems to have about the good ol' US of A, it ain't the OK corral around every corner, and if you shoot John Q. Gangbanger for breaking into your truck or some other property crime, you are going to prison. As well, regarding self defense, the burden of proof falls on the claimant to demonstrate that the level of force used was justified, as self defense is an affirmative defense, and you've already admitted to assault, assault with a deadly weapon or homicide.
It's pretty much the same down here, save for Texas after dark. Most states have some form of castle doctrine that authorizes deadly force if you feel endangered, but that only applies if the intruder is inside your home; not the garage, the shed, the barn, stealing your truck, etc.The problem with Canadian laws and protecting property is you have no right to lay down a beating unless you have solid proof of your life being in danger!

Be glad you don't live in the UK - it is possible to be caught 3mph over the limit.Coelacanth wrote:Edmonton Police are just as bad. Today, I got a photo radar ticket. Re: GOD is on someone's side!
$180 install (including hardware), $24 per year police monitoring fee, $32 monthly bill. A small price to pay for my new found paranoia. Here are some pics of my garage that I built early 2008, shed was added winter of 2008. As you can see, I have a couple things in the garage that I would like protected when asleep and away. The shed that was broken into is shown in the pics with my warning sign. The motion sensor is shown between the shovels. It acts on motion with heat signature.

Re: GOD is on someone's side!
Well, you spelled "Caution" wrong on your sign...
But honestly, I would be afraid to put up warning-style signs, because it actually becomes an invitation for the punk(s) to mess with you even worse...perhaps not theft, but vandalism and other shenanigans. Those punks who would break into someone's place to steal stuff evidently have no respect for anyone's property or authority, so why not make mischief and destroy other people's stuff?
