Outside looked great, amazing what enough layers of paint can hide. Inside looked exactly like what you are probably thinking. bare ABS - bare balsa and filler - bare ABS. And lots of epoxy

I had a T2 that every electronics peice was glued or something, i have never seen anyhting like it, I was able to remonve evrything without breaking it except for the reciever, the case broke apart. I have no idea what was used but it was hard to get off, I used a knife to pry and wiggle. Getting the residue off the chassis was a pain too but after 2 days of useing goof off it was all gone.

Shoe goo to the rescue.....

Try working as a mechanic. I can't describe some of the stuff I've seen and repaired. Let alone been asked to repair. Once I put a sweet looking 50's Chevy truck on the rack for some maintanance and low and behold the frame was welded in about five spots with fence pipe holding it together. By the time I noticed it, it was too late. It was in two pieces on the floor of the shop. With the rack still in the air. That was one of the worst one's I've seen. I wish I still had the pics on my HD.

Fillet knife. I slide it under the serve on wiggle it around.Never met a servo it couldnt beat.If yur carefull you wont scratch the chassis or the servo.

i'm not saying i dont think it would work, but i could see me cutting the tip of a finger off doing that...

if the adhesive is kinda soft try twisting it off. if that dont work you could try freezing it. just hold a can of compressed air upside down.

I agree with terry, probably shoe goo or silicone since you said its not super solid. Especially with yokomos, everybody use to cut off the servo mounting tabs and just shoe goo'd them onto the chassis, even the pros. Try running an x-acto or thin razor blade between the servo and chassis to weaken the bond, but yeah, be careful.

Go to your LHS and look on the train section for Woodland Scenics stuff. They make a foam cutter cutting foam for train layouts. Let it warm up and gently pull it beneath the servo. Or you could rig one up with a 12V battery and some wire. I'd prefer the woodland scenics one if I didn't already have foam cutters for cutting r/c airplane wings.

lots of good ideas ... I chickened out on the fillet knife because of exactly what Hoop mentioned. I'm quite fond of all of my fingers!

Here's what worked. I took out the 4 screws that hold the servo together. I was then able to twist a wiggle the 3 servo sections free from the chassis. I then used my exacto knife to carefully fillet off as much of the adhesive as I could. Now I'm left with some small areas that still have a little residue remaining that I'm going to attack with Acetone.

I picked up a SWB Schumacher Cat earlier last year with period electronics for a good price. It has never been run which is just as well, as it was poorly assembled.

Whoever built it mounted the receiver and speedy with 1 1/2 long wood screws, to wedge them in. The amount of bump steer was ridiculous with about 15-20 degrees of toe-in as the suspension compressed. Also they cut a weird hole in the body in front of the windscreen for some unknown reason.

Overall though with a little work and a new body the car should come up a treat. I'll make a thread and post some pics later.

good for you. I would n't bother with removing the residue: a new servo will go over it anyway

Someone at a club I used to race at couldn't be bothered to clean his YZ-10 the traditional way after a wet muddy race. Instead he put it in his parent's dishwasher . Needless to say the plastic parts came out super clean and shiney, but everything metal was rusted solid...............
