What rerelease?
What rerelease?
What re-release would be best for vintage racing? i need something thats durable and will work with todays electronics as well as tires.
thanks
thanks
Re: What rerelease?
Honestly, I am not sure anything Tamiya is worth buying to vintage race. Maybe an Avante or Egress, but they are pricey (and 4wd). Anything 2wd is going to be very slow versus an RC10, JRX2, Ultima, ect.

Dyna storm but I don't think it's a current rerelease

Id have chosen Dynastorm, if it weren't for its rarity and expense in upkeep, if they ever re re'd the car, then sure!

Re: What rerelease?
If they re-re the Astute that would be a nice option as well. How about a Nova Fox?

I would go top force,, except REREs are already long gone and back up to collector price. For that matter, you could just build a ta01 buggy from ebay spare parts.

Re: What rerelease?
dynastorm or topforce are the only raceable ones in shizuokas rere lineup
but sill they command a hi price, no parts, and cant hold a candle to the rc10
fox is a total joke on the track.
if you wanna make a statemetn, grasshopper is the way to go! at least youll have an excuse for finishin last

Dunno how old it is but the stadium Blitzer i saw at my local track one Tamiya day seemed to be best of the non supposed racing kits like the avante ,astute and egress..

Agreed...I've been considering racing my re-re DS once/twice a year as I'm a diehard Tamiya fan and would love to be the only DS in a sea of RC10s/JR-X2's but am backing off that idea after giving it's rarity and parts availability problem more thought. As others have said, I'd be better off with an RC10 anyway which AE re-re'd x 2 so far so parts are readily available for a better car.

I Agree the statium Blitzer is the way to go. they had one at the Vonats a few years ago and it ran great. if its a true Vintage class were the Jrx2's and RC10's have to run vintage tires and motors the Tamiyas can hold their own.bully wrote:Dunno how old it is but the stadium Blitzer i saw at my local track one Tamiya day seemed to be best of the non supposed racing kits like the avante ,astute and egress..

Re: What rerelease?
In the 80's I used to race my Fox more often than my RC10. Of course that was also in Sportsman class which was Tamiya and equivalent cars but I did get folded into the stock class one night due to a low number of entries. I finished 2nd in the B main against an armada of RC10's. That was an old loamy track though with no big jumps but still a fantastic result considering we went up to D and sometimes even E mains back then. The Fox would never survive on a modern track. The most fun I ever had racing was in Sportsman class. I'd love to seer an all vintage Tamiya race again.

that was my blitzer, freddy's daughter ran it in novice. i ran it last year in classics, it wasn't awfull but the hard kit tires did it in.
it would be much better with some good rubber. bump steers like a mofo though.
