Yes, that's happened to me. That's why I now locate anything before offering to ship it.

some little gremlin came and took them. I had something go missing friday night and after looking everywhere I could think to over the weekend, it was on the floor like 2-3 feet from me monday morning. If you dont think your gonna find it in a fast manner, just let the buyer know you need an extra day or two to ship it.
