Got Skulls

Post by DennisM »

Sometimes You just need some skulls and blue flames

Got this one the other day.
It´s a fine truck but the motors described as pullers, won´t even pull the skin of a thin sauce.
This thing needs LiPo and some low turn motors.

I sold a stock Clodbuster a couple of years ago, and been wondering to get either a TXT or a modified Clod.
This one came up first.

I had a well hung Clod back then and the sound of those tires on gravel still lingers :D

That is pretty cool looking body! I love the color scheme and those TTR front bumper mounts are getting really hard to find. Which motors did it come with? If the axles are not locked, you will be wasting the power of the puller motors. Looking forward to seeing more.

Thanks for the comment, SFC K

I took some pictures today.

It seems to be LRP pullers but I´m not able to read the winds.

Has anyone modifyed the TTR chassis to accept normal 2 cell lipo hard case battery? It seems that the chassis would be quite thin, if the modification is done to the "stock" chassis/compartment.

I´ve got a pair of Orion Method 11x2, would they do me any good? As I recall it, we used triples or quads back then?

If I go brushless, what would be reasonable? - I don´t want to tear it apart, but still like to have 25 mph´is on the top.
Is that unobtainable?

The diffs are unlocked and I think they´ll stay that way - would like it to be a "race" monster truck.

Interesting Chassis. I looked for the dual battery Ripper chassis but did not find anything like yours. You could mount the battery on the bottom by mounting a battery plate going the length of the chassis. There should be room or find a 2s lipo that will fit the current battery slots.

Those Orion motors should work good, but may not last long on a 2s lipo. The LRP motors I believe are 80T and the reason your not getting any wheel speed. I linked a Clod buster common electronics set-up for your viewing from Clodtalk, RC10talks sister site. It should help you determine brushed versus brushless.

Also, Brad the owner of TTR is on Clodtalk and should be able to identify the correct name for that chassis and give you more battery placement options.

If it were mine, I would run one EVX-2 with Traxxas Titan motors from the E-Revo (Rear motor is in the proper reverse rotation) if their is room for the motors. Sometimes the longer can of the Titans hits the lower links.

One thing I see when looking at the shocks, is they look too long or in the wrong position on the lower links, which is why your axles are clocked. The upper links should be more parallel to the ground helping with the COG which creates the chassis sitting too high. Lowering it would help lengthening your wheel base too for more stability.

I Hope this helps.

SFC K, Many thanks for the link and suggestions.

I´ve now replaced the shocks with the length suggested at TTR´s webpage. App. 1/2 an inch shorter than the ones installed.
Stance is much better now - the "fine" body will need a new set of holes or gigantic cutouts at the arches, so the runner body is on for now.

I´m going to mount the battery lenghtwise as You suggested and then sneak over to ClodTalk, gathering inspiration for the rest of the setup.

Many thanks.
