Novak T-4 with lipo?

Hi,
Is the Novak T-4 ESC capable of running on modern lipo power?
Or is that asking for trouble?
I'd like to run period ESC and motor in my Yokomo 870c but I don't want to use period cells if I can help it.
I'm aware I'd need to be careful about not letting the lipos go under voltage, but is there any other issue?

I don't see any issue other than using a lipo cutoff for safety

Should be able to handle 2S lipo,can take upto 4-10 cell nicad(1.2Vx10=12V).

Search Ebay for "Lipo low voltage alarm". There are many for under $5 shipped.
