New old guy from Metairie, Louisiana!

Post by treystoys »

Just wanted to say hello, names Trey, I'm 11 days away from my 40th  married, have two little girls, almost 8 and 9, a 8 month old son! 8) aannnd two step children, 8 and 10!!  Oh yeah, may as well add my 5 cats in there too  lol Anyhow, I've been into rc cars since the mid to early 80s. My first car was a Tamiya Fox, and it'd take me all nite to go from there  . I started racing on road in the late 80s, then got into offroad as well shortly after. Racing has been an on and off thing over the years as the tracks and clubs seem to come and go here. In the between times and actually pretty seriously for a while I did some travel racing of Fast Electric boats, even been in the boat mags a time or two back when they actually had them lol  lol Also crashed a few electric planes and helicopters over the years as well. I've had only one nitro car and a Zenoah powered 43" boat, just always stayed electric. My latest thing has been the vintage stuff. My latest project is an AB stamp RC10, doing it up as a fancy runner. Its got RPM black arms, worlds CF towers and the hard coated threaded shock kits on the way. Some aluminum blocks and carriers, and a nice set of gold aluminum peanuts in the oe size. Runnig gear not 100% yet, but I may go brushless. Body wise I am thinking either 80s box art style, Baja bug, or a Kyosho Tomahawk body if itll fit. The last one because I have a new build Tomahawk that sits on my little boys dressor, its a killer looking buggy, but I'm scared to run it! lol Anyhow, I suppose that's good for now, have a good night!

Thanks for the welcome guys!

Yes I've discovered some truly amazing builds on here, as well as some great articles about the past RC industry as well. I'll be a regular for sure.

No, I'm hoping I'm quite a few years from any cemetery!!

Wow well I see I've missed this post by a year! LOL just signed up and figured I would do the introduction stuff . Glad to see I'm not the only one left here in Louisiana! Are there any tracks left here? My fave Hobby Hut moved now I'm lost! Alright then I'll see you around.
