The Tamiya's from the black garage

Post by Wahrsuul »

I already posted pics of the Clod, but I figured I'd just put the rest in one post. I've been out of RC for a long time, and the majority of my cars have been hiding in the garage. This is the Tamiya part of the collection. I pulled them off the shelf and out of the boxes and just game them a quick dusting.

The Monster Beetle. I ran this for a while myself with a few improvements, then passed it over to my son. He didn't take as good care of it.

This is my Avante. I had high hopes that this might be my new racer BITD, but... oh well, it was only run a few times before being shelved. Still all stock.

This started out life as a ThunderShot. When Tamiya released the Terra Scorcher, and I saw that it was an upgraded Thundershot, I picked up the pieces to convert it. Had a good time with this one, but when the front shock broke, I didn't have time or parts at the time to fix it.

Here's the King Cab. Mostly stock with the exception of bearings. I still have the OEM body. I didn't trust myself to do a decent paining on it, so I picked up this stadium body.

And last but not least, the car that started it all, The Hornet. This thing has been through 3 bodies, and multiple wheel, radio and motor combos. I put the big wheels on for running in the snow at the time. I still have the originals, but they're fairly beat up. I thrashed this car hard learning and having fun.

Hmmm, I did it the same way I did the Clodbuster pics. Not sure why they're not showing for you, as I can see them.

After some research, it seems Google Photos has some issues sharing photos. Some can see them, some can't. So, lets try Photobucket. The pics aren't as big, but maybe it'll work.

Great, glad they're working. The beetle looks ok, and the tires are replacement originals. But the chassis has a few issues - the body mount is broken in 2 places, and the steering is bent. I just got done with my Turbo Rocky, and one of the Lazers is next, but I expect I'll get around to this one eventually.

It's great to be able to share these with people that know and appreciate them, for years they've just been collecting dust in the garage.
