I might need to approach this differently. Some how though I'm beginning to feel too "green" or "liberal" reminiscent of a Prius or Volt..."A battery with 4 tires and a nut job behind the wheel" Maybe I need to break out the nitro's :?

I could buy 2-2s standard packs with this configuration

This also gives more options. I swear associated knew someone was going to do this

What about square packs??

Approx the same footprint as 2 saddle packs sitting side by side..

Stack them one on top of the other, which is not ideal for weight distribution, but when you are short on space....

These were the first to come up on a Google search..

Could always run stick packs or "shorty's" and have the sticks lay on their sides perpendicular to the chassis, and hang off the sides a tad. The shorty's would likely stay within the required space of chassis. Peak makes a nice 4000 mah 90c shorty pack that I really like. Lectron Pro makes a shorty that's 4600 mah and 100c, those are good too.

I'm not sure what the name for the packs you hare are, but they're shorter than "shorty's". I'd be more inclined to make a barrier, or brace, that holds larger batteries sideways. Larger batteries are cheaper, and easier to get.

Great idea! I didn't know about square packs until today when I was at the associated sale and saw these 65C 5800mAh 7.4v Lipo's for 30$ each.

You're right on the name, saddle packs is correct, I just couldn't think of what those were called.

I run shorty packs in my cars, which are about 2/3 the length of a regular pack. The saddles are about half the size of a stick pack.

Could make for easier placement/arrangement if you made some sort of bumper, holder, frame, that extended out to the sides. The very narrow width of your chassis is what's killing your options.
