Although it might be a tad more power than 2500 kV, I put this affordable combo in my OptiMutt car (mid-motored Optima Mid converted to RWD), it's very smooth-running. 12T 3300 kV, 60A ESC, program card. I only had to reduce the "punch" to a level that felt comfortable to me.
For now i went with a Aurora 14-2 brushed and a castle sidewinder 3. It is insane lol. The manual calls for a 30 turn. I used castle link to dial it down.
Nice price. You might find they put really cheap fans on those el-cheapo knock-offs...I put a Bullistorm ESC in Barney that had an annoyingly loud, whiny fan, and furthermore, the fan blades actually brushed across the top of the heatsink. I picked up a better Novak fan to replace it, which cost about $15. They cheap out on the fans.
Program card looks like it has all the most basic functions. Just for comparison, here are the programmable functions of the Leopard Toro; the Turnigy was almost identical. The Bullistorm I mentioned earlier had even a few more options.
I wish they offered these things un-anodized. It sucks to have to live with a bright blue or orange motor can hanging out the back of your buggy if your particular chosen color scheme doesn't jibe with it. (I realize most modern cars have mid-mounted motors hidden by the body, but still...)
I ordered a Hobbywing XERUN Justock Zero Spec 17.5 combo at Amain Hobbies for $94.99. I should have waited on the Black Friday sale because they marked it down to $80.74!!! The motor is rated at 2100kV, so it should be tame in my World's car.
It should be delivered today, so I will let you know how it performs.

How did you like this motor? XERUNS justock motors are on sale for under $50 with a $5 off coupon. Seems too good to not buy. How'd you like it? Mine would be going in a classic re re.

Sorry GRSparty, I haven't logged in in a while. I really like the XERUN motors. They have been updated from the G1 to the G2 version, and they run really cool with the new billet aluminum motor cans. The 17.5T is kind of slow for my liking, but probably good for stock class racing. Plus, I'm running a blinky esc with no timing. I'll probably upgrade to a 10.5T soon, once I settle into my new job and have more time for rc.
Well I didnt just pick it up but I just ordered it for my T3. Castle Creations sidewinder SV3 SCT edition 3800kv. Wow thats a mouthful heh. Now Im going to need a lipo or 2. Can anyone recommend some decent lipos that wont break the bank. I will...
im open to ebay or hobbyking. just looking for a cheap set to make a car usable.
id prefer to stay brushless, also minimal soldering work if possible. I can do it but its pretty crappy.

Jim, what kV's are the motors you have been running?
I run the 3500kv motor. In my dad's Ruckus, I kept the stock brushed 20t gearing, and dropped it in. The result is that the truck is faster than my stock Stampede 4x4, and it runs substantially...
based upon a few suggestions, but I think the 3s battery might be overkill (from what I'm reading now).
Is there a way to limit it or should I look at returning the battery/charger and get something else? I was...

Some of my parts came in today, to include the 3S battery. I have ordered a 2S and it should be here in a couple days with similar dimensions. Using the 3S for layout placement, I was wondering what the best way to fit the battery into the chassis....
What would you all say the best combo would be for an older RC 10L. Would like it to be fast :-)

The bigest problem is traction, doughnuts will be plentiful. Something cheap like the Hobbywing 9t (4300kv) set to punch level 1 will still be plenty...
So as of now I am keeping the 6 gear and doing a little modifying thanks to lowclasscc and was wondering about what kind of gearing I can go with my set up. I have a 27t P2K2 Pro motor and was thinking of going 81/24, is this possible or will I run...

Here is my setup:
Reedy 17t Radon.
76 spur
25 pinion
76/25 * 1.83 (assuming ratio from 6 gear tranny) = 5.56 (48 pitch)
Feedback from another forum member:
87/20 would be better for a 6 gear tranny
Im going to be honest, im not realy that good with roll outs/gear ratio's for these kinds of cars. I want to run my Super Shot with modern 2.2' rims and rubber and want to get the most out of this runner. My question here simply is- what motor...

Thanks for the comments guys. After watching Dylan's Hot Shot run around the track in Melbourne last year at the off road enduro I was inspired to get my own 'SHOT' up and going. While this car is hardly going to take on Dog Fighters, Lazer's and...
I'm looking to get a brushless motor setup, I'd like to have a decent amount of power, but nothing to overwhelm my car (stealth transmission gold pan, with B4 slipper assembly). I've picked out a few parts that would seem to work...
Ok, I have this motor that I pulled off my newly found RC10 buggy and I can't seem to find any info on it. I'm curious if anyone knows what turn it is? Also I have this ESC that has been sitting around awhile and I'm curious if they are any good or...

That's a bit harsh... the ProDigi is an excellent ESC that can run with anything out there from bitd... I have a couple of friends who still race theirs in 2wd mod (where brushed motors are particularly appropriate) with success.
