Dug out my old RC-10
Dug out my old RC-10
Hi guys,
I dug out my old RC-10 from the late 80s. I started out with a used graphite RC-10 when I was a young teenager. I upgraded to the team car when it came out, might have been in the early 90s. I decided to get my kids into and revive my old RC-10. I intend to purchase the new B6 but wanted to get my old rig up and running. A lot has changed with the new batteries and the brushless engines! I upgraded to titanium tie rods and purchased a Reedy Radon motor. I also purchased a new Futaba radio, the range on my old one was horrible, I think the antenna was broken. I also converted the front and rear axles to take the 2.2" wheels. Anyhow, here is a pic.

Re: Dug out my old RC-10
I have read that the new CVs for the RERE are really short. Has anyone had any issues with them being so short? I admit that most of the time the car should be running at "dog-bone level" so it shouldn't be an issue. I guess when you are jumping it could pop out, although when fully extended they seem stuck pretty good in there. Any thoughts? Any way to fix this or just deal with it? Picture below.

Yes. Very common. A few have moved the wheel spacer (blue) to the inside in order to push the cva deeper into the diff outdrive. It’s not ideal, but works
It's time to stand up to the bully. Support the companies that support the industry, not the ones that tear it down. Say no to Traxxas

Hopefully they will restock them, there are a lot of parts on back order.

I should have waited for the longer bones. Decided to run it anyhow and the bone popped out and chipped the socket! I ordered new CVs and the longer bones so the ten in going to sit in the shop for a week or so. It's ok though, gives me an excuse to upgrade some of the parts back there anyhow.

I just added another thin spacer inside the shock to limit droop a little more. Had zero issues at the vintage nats last month.

Re: Dug out my old RC-10
I realize that no one reading this will care one bit (and that's fine, I just couldn't resist sharing this) but I just started browsing this forum and quickly found the very piece of information that I was seeking. I will be checking all the usual online sources for a set of ASC9911 bones. Thank you guys. You at RC10Talk have save me an enormous amount of research time. Oh, and Ucsdmutt, the chip in my drive cup looks just like yours. It's too bad AE didn't make the RC10's CVA bone just a few mm's longer.
