I received this one as a well-used Turbo Optima from an ebay member out west somewhere. It included an original unpainted body, original (?) 240S motor and a really funky set of turf tires that probably would look more at home on a tractor. The MSC was missing but I’d planned to go brushless anyway.
But what I really wanted was a Javelin to run in the backyard track so I set about doing the conversion and used mostly re-release parts. The original rear transmission was replaced with a re-re one in order to take advantage of its metal diff case and gears, and the dog bones and axles are also re-re and use the cross-pinned hex drives. On the exterior, apart from the cage, bumper, wheels/tires, the remaining car is original TO. The bottom side of the arms and chassis is really gnarly so this should make a good, no regrets, vintage runner.
So it’s complete and ready to run except for motor connections. I have this bargain Kyosho 17.5 that I’m going to try-out in this car… when I have it wired (didn’t want to hard wire and I’m out of bullets at the moment). I was planning to make and fit an aluminum wing but think I prefer the way the car looks wingless. All of my other buggies have wings so I think maybe this one should be different.

Re: Javelin runner
I like that a lot , it's got a very clean look to it ,no wing works for me , very scale looking , almost needs a driver figure in there to finish it off .
If a jobs not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well.
A problem shared is a problem halved but an advantage shared is no advantage at all.

Re: Javelin runner
Thanks for the compliments everyone.
Regarding the driver figure, I've tried the one that came with the car and one from my re-release Javelin but I just didn't like them. Both of these figures also incorporate an electronics cover as a base (an inverted tub) and this seems to make the figure sit too high in the cockpit. I think I prefer something that sits lower even if this requires sacrificing the cover feature. It was a challenge but I was able to fit the ESC and most of the bulky wiring within that void just behind the battery and below the top chassis plate. The only components that sit atop the chassis plate is the Rx and ESC switch and these are pretty small and should be easy to hide either behind or within the body of a figure. Think I'll have a look at TBG and see if they have what I'm looking for (maybe a sprint car driver figure??). Meanwhile, I'm open to suggestions.
