Weak start to the R/C season

Post by MelvinsArmy »

Well, after a weekend of doing "important" stuff, cleaning, painting, bike riding, etc, I decided to finally take my runner out for it's first real run. I built it up this winter. It's a totally loaded gold tub with a 14T Speed Gems motor and a Super Rooster. After a few awesome high speed passes down the street, a few half-arsed jump attempts on the curb/driveway ramps and various other tests to see how the bad boy runs, just as I'm getting into it, getting a feel for the car (awesome D'uh, it's a gold tub Stealth) the car slows down drastically and when I hit the throttle all I hear is whiiiiiiiirrrrrrrr. Oh yeah, when I built it up, I didn't threadlock the pinion down because I wasn't sure of the gear ratio. Oops.

That was last night. I just found out I'm going to be in a show the first week of June, so I'm rushing to complete a new painting, so I guess it won't be until next weekend until the old gold is up and running again.

But...... for those brief 3 or 4 minutes of run time I had, it was awesome. It's been a long time since I've run a dialed in buggy. And, considering this buggy was basically thrown together with all the coolest parts I could find and not ever set up for any particular terrain or track, it ran incredibly well right off the bat. Incredible steering radius, fast, soaked up the bumps like nothing.

Anyway, I didn't bother tightening down the pinion last night. I just got out the Lunchbox that I knew was ready to run trouble free, that's all I wanted to do last night is burn a few packs. Well, all I can say is that I do love the Lunchbox, but going from a 14t gold tub stealth to a Lunchbox is kind of a disapointing let down. I still had fun, but I've got to get that 10 up and running reliably again. Next painting break, that's going to be the mission. 8)
