Starting My First Build - Hope it Goes Well...

Post by jramsey32 »

Starting on a build, for me and my dad. He had an rc10 when I was probably 4 or 5 that I loved! I am hoping to have something that we can go run together at the local track when all of this quarantine is over....

Hoping it all goes well, have a ton of ideas on what I am going to do, and going to try and print some of my parts.

HAs anyone tried something like this to upgrade the turnbuckles?

https://www.amazon.com/Team-Losi-Titanium-Turnbuckle-Kit/dp/B00EE8CDNG

Think the lengths might be off, but it might be worth a shot?

Lunsford still makes turnbuckles for the rc10.

Looks like you've gotten a very good start.
You'll want to install the front suspension plate struts (aka "nose tubes") as they add a lot of stiffness to the car and make it more durable. I didn't notice them in your first photo - do you have a set?
Anyway, I really like what you've done so far. That blue tub/front plate/motor mount looks great with the black nylon parts. :D

I don't currently have any, but I was thinking on making them or getting a black set like https://www.ebay.com/i/124013777760.

Got a few more things on it now.

New front shock tower that I printed out.

Used the Custom Works Hex conversion on the front, seems to have worked, just have to get the tie rods set now.

That hex conversion is pretty nice. Thanks for the link! I'm gonna warn you and say that printed tower may be pretty flimsy.

It is carbon fiber reinforced PLA so should be gods for a few runs... maybe. Going to replace those with the jconcepts carbon set once it breaks!

Keep us updated about how long the tower lasts. I'm curious to see how these fiber reinforced plastics for 3D printers hold up. Durability has been the main issue with usable 3D printed parts(arms, hubs, wheels, etc) It will be killer if these new plastics work well.

Not 100% on what I am going to do there yet. Possibly that, but would REALLY love to have some matching blue anodized axles.

Also looking into piecing it together. I would like a matching blue axle but done thing I am going to find it. so might do the opposite. Blue Anodized carrier and then black axles with blue 12mm converters. Something like these, just have to do more research on what will fit.....
