Masami used the older 834B wing button in his buggies, 89, 91 :)

Resurrecting this old thread as I am doing some current research in this area. Al, these ZB-50 wing buttons you have are curious as they have a through hole drilled in them for the wing wire capture screw.

The 843B I recently picked up only has a small "pin" hole at the bottom:

Others I found scouring the net have the same pin hole:

I am not able to find one that is drilled all the way through like yours. What gives?

Mark, I have several sets I consider original and 1 set doesn't have any holes in the bottom, another a small hole and a third set like in my pictures from before with the larger hole. I can't say any of these are wrong as all are the correct size and shape and material and hold a wing wire in place and have a rubber o-ring between the Lexan wing and the screw on top.

This is likely an artifact then of them being small and hand machined / drilled / tapped. Curious what the intended design was, no hole, or through hole? I'd argue the small hole was NOT the intended outcome

Thanks for looking Al, I appreciate it!

Yup I'd say its just that the conical tip of the drill bit went fully through but probably unintended .
If a jobs not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well.
A problem shared is a problem halved but an advantage shared is no advantage at all.
