mid engine car started

i drilled for the stealth trans and started on the back of the car today. here are some pics.

the next part i'll be doing is the front end, but that's gonna go on pretty much in one piece b/c that's how i took it off the other car.

its just about done. i just need a new battery cup on the drivers side so the battery won't shoot out when i make a right turn and i need to find a body for it and put the rest of the electronics in.

how would you have mounted the servo if you wanted to use all of the battery slots and what would you have used to hold the batterys down?

Maybe you can stand up a low profile servo: in front of the batteries. or put the servo over the batteries on a top deck?

The chassis was made for the batteries to go lengthwise, so there must be an easy way

what body do you have on that car that fits w/ the servo standing up like that? it kind of looks like a grasshopper.

It won't fit your car: too narrow for your chassis and a little short too.

For the servo I 've been told the best low-profile one is a futaba 9550.
Here's another lay-out that should work also for you, maybe even with a normal size servo:

At the time your chassis was made (it is kinda old , not?) they probably didn't use low-profile servos.
They exist long time but were mainly for airplanes and not strong enough for a buggy. so there must be some setup that fits a servo on this chassis.

Maybe the oval guys know?

did you mean this one? i thought of that, but then i'd have to change the steering and i'm not sure what parts from what cars i can use that will fit.

B3 uses a setup like that. Same servo saver setup as the T2/GT etc steering. So you can either use the T2 steering bellcranks with the B3 servo arm or use the whole B3 setup. B3 bellcranks are just missing the extra holes you never use anyway.

for the bell cranks i would have used an old set of aluminum inline sassy chassy bellcranks. my next choice would have been a custom works or r.d. enterprises steering rack or good old b3/t3 bellcranks. as far as holding down the battery i would have used a custom works velcro strap. but thats just the dirt oval in me talking.

It looks like there's holes to mount the holder he has now.
He can use that holder and just cut the bottom part out: so the cells sit low in the slots.
