Went back to the drawing board and started to model up the Marui Samurai chassis again , last time I tried the model was so glitchy and messed up with so many adjustments that I gave up in frustration , it really is the most complicated shape I've ever tried to model , still some way to go but here are the teaser shots .

Piss, Pox and Pestilence  , the Samurai chassis bit me again , made a mistake early on and made the top chassis rails 2mm too narrow, god only knows how , spent half of yesterday trying to sort it but no good, I'm going to have to go right back to nearly the beginning and start over , I am test printing it as it should all fit and if it does not then i can sort out any issues in the next version , this probably represented two solid days work down the tubes :(

Well at least the test print went well :D a few very minor tweaks needed but it fits so I can now move on knowing that it will fit right next time  Its really crudely printed at 0.28 layer height and only PLA .

In these pictures with the callipers you can see where its too narrow by 2mm, unfortunately this error also impacts on the torsion bar tensioner limiting the max tension so its not just aesthetic :(

Took all day but I've fixed the Samurai chassis model , just a little more work and it's time for another test print but this one should be the completed part :D

Oh so close , 13 out of 14 mountings line up perfect :D , the torsion bar adjuster is spot on , just one last adjustment and it's ready for a good quality print

I'm completely unfamiliar with the RC your building Dadio but I can appreciate the work you are doing to replicate parts for it; that's an extremely complex part.
Your doing some very advanced design engineering work and I seriously doubt that the professionals who created this car a few decades back could have imagined that someone in the distant future would be re-creating their work on a computer and printer in their home. It's really quite amazing when you stop and think about it.

This is a Marui Samurai , Stock box art on the left , they are one of the best looking 80's cars in my opinion but horribly fragile ! The chassis was like egg shell when new , made of very thin brittle ABS , new chassis are getting very hard to come by and its a beast of a shape to draw up in CAD

This is the very latest iteration of the chassis with all rolled edges and sectioned out hollow , I've kept a version that's not sectioned out and I'll offer both the solid and sectioned version on Shapeways , cost difference is negligible .

It's done ! by far in a way the hardest thing I've ever reverse engineered , everything lines up , it just drops right in there :D
