Losi XX Modern Racer build
I'm planning this to be my last XX build. It will be a very clean racer with modern electronics. No blue bits. All silver and black.
I'm using the L length chassis, which is longer than the regular buggy length. I did this on one of my other XX builds, and I really like it. It should put the wheelbase close to that of a current 22 5.0.
I'm using Rusti Designs towers. The shocks will be XXX units. All Trinity parts used will be stripped and polished.

I wished I could find all the trinity parts you come up with. If you have any extras for vintage losi please let me know

Nothing better than a brand new Graphite chassis. I love the look of the graphite pattern.

"Racer" huh? Are we to believe you will drive this one?

Even if you don't, you won't catch hell from me, I build trucks with the intention to drive them all the time, then they sit pretty on the shelf.

At this point, I don't even lie to myself anymore.mikesofunny wrote: ↑Sat Mar 26, 2022 7:21 pm "Racer" huh? Are we to believe you will drive this one?![]()

I like building and repairing stuff. Out of my 28 cars, maybe 2 or 3 actually get run. And those, are rare as well.
Always looking for new and interesting ways to waste money.

Re: Losi XX WOIN Racer build
Lol. Yeah, I am much more interested in building than actually driving. However, my biggest obstacle is there are no tracks anywhere near me. I would love to have a local track and race scene. I do plan to make it to VONATS some year, but traveling from California is a big ask.mikesofunny wrote: ↑Sat Mar 26, 2022 7:21 pm"Racer" huh? Are we to believe you will drive this one?![]()

In the mean time, all my "racers" will sit patiently on the shelf.

Re: Losi XX WOIN Racer build
It was difficult taking the dremel to this brand new chassis. I cut the 2 sides of the middle channel so the battery can sit flat. I also cut a steering servo lead pass through hole. It's difficult cutting the lip cleanly by hand, but I'm pretty happy with the results. The battery covers it regardless.
It was also difficult cutting the ears off this pretty Spektrum servo, but necessary for this chassis.

I also used a dremel to cut this servo/esc lead channel in the center of the tunnel. What a pain to do by hand!
I'm a big fan of the MIP steering kit for the XX series. It's a huge improvement over the stock setup. After some tinkering and adjusting, this steering is perfectly smooth and slop free

Re: Losi XX WOIN Racer build
I got this MIP steering from a parts XX buggy I bought awhile back. The MIP steering has become quite difficult or expensive to find.

Front end is coming together. Titanium hinge pins and hardware is being used throughout. Rusti tower and Jammin front brace.
