I'm just mentally stuck in 1985 prices. Carry on, don't mind me.

Don't you hate it when you hit BIN for $42 on an item that is clearly marked on its vintage packaging that it was $3.50. :D

Great info in this thread so far. Sources for:
junk cheap aluminum
red anodized
blue anodized
original green anodized
stainless steel

Sources for the couple of other lengths? 1/4, 7/8, 1 1/4?
I build RCs like people would have done back in the '90s ..................................... if they had 3D printers.

The 1/4 were always steel, so stainless makes sense.

I avoid the re-re green ones like the plague. I think they are made from the same pot metal that Tamiya makes pinions from. Complete garbage.

Not only the Chinesium metal but they also drove the Phillips slots in so far that the walls of the tapered area are paper thin. I’ve seen the heads pop off just tightening the screws

I believe the rc10 1/4" screw for the middle noseplate was originally aluminum.

I can't say that it didn't change at some point, but all of the #6931 screws that I've bought were steel.

I always thought that it was odd, having one steel 8-32 screw.

Is that expensive?
Quick reference, CRC is wanting $1/per for the red anodizing, so for darn correct green, $1/per is on par.

lefthander-rc.com also has red and blue anodized (6) for $5. I have some of the red ones on order and will give a quick first impression when they come in.
