JRXT Rebuilt Questions

Post by WriteDean »

So, I am building/restoring a JRXT. A few questions
The instruction manual - There is a Rev A and B - what are the differences
The battery holder - did it have the original type then switch over to the swing arm?
The steering linkage - Did it only come with white or were there other colors for other versions?
The transmission top gear - Was it brass/one piece or was it the updated 2 piece design?

Also - Does anyone have a scan of the Losi MTM (Monster Truck Motor) Decal? MCI does not have this one....

Anything else I may need to know?

Thanks a bunch

The rev-a and rev-b are the revisions, "production release" is the first version. I just flipped through my copy of production release and rev-a and didn't see any obvious major changes, they look the same to me. I don't have a rev-b to compare.

The battery holder may have changed to the screw hinge type later in production. It is hard to say for sure as the parts for the various models were interchangeable for many years and lots were upgraded by users so it is unclear at this point what actually came in original boxed kits from losi.

The white Bellcranks are associated with the truck. To my knowledge all came with the flexible white ones and no servo saver hole in the chassis, but some say that later versions came with the hole in the chassis, which would imply they came with the rigid style bellcrank arms which were not available in white.

The transmission top gear was a fairly early running change so jrx-t could have come with either one.

Thanks, this is a link to Rev B instructions. I could not find a Rev A or "production release" online.

I have the Rev A manual.

Rev B

Here are the main differences between the versions that I see..

Original: (box pics) Basically a Jrx2..
Long chassis, no cutout
Black steering arms
Original battery box
Brass top shaft gear

Rev A:
Long chassis, no cutout
A-1505 monster truck steering arms-white
Original battery box
Brass top shaft gear

Rev B: (Uses JrxPro upgrades..)
Long chassis with servo cutout
A-1505 monster truck steering arms-white
-or-
A-1507 Rigid steering arms
New battery box
Pro, 2pc top shaft gear
Reinforced side bulkheads for 5 link

Most of the big changes came in Rev B. You could say an early Jrxt would be original to Rev A…then a late Jrxt would be Rev B.

Not trying to thread jack but what is the difference in length of the JRX2 and JRX-T chassis? I'm starting to get a feeling that this 5 link chassis I have may be a Truck chassis and not a Buggy.
Consistency is the key I keep misplacing.

Looks like about 1/2-5/8 of an inch, JRXT has more kickup and is shaped a bit differently:

Original JRX2 had 20-degrees of front kick- up

Pro and XT had 30-degrees of kick-up

Easiest way to know without measuring, JRX-2 has the curvy side chassis, the pro and jrxt always had the straight sides.

Welp looks like I have a JRXT chassis, Guess I'm making a long JRX2 in my future.
