So, what did you do RC today?

When it's R/C related, but doesn't fit anyplace else.

Yes. Something about complete roller with just a servo is appealing. Maybe because you can admire all of the kit engineering without anything in the way. Maybe it's the "headache" of mounting the electronics tastefully and getting the wiring layout as clean as possible that makes me want to dwell in that bare chassis zone....but vintage builds with period correct electronics are some of my favorites also. Rollers with painted bodies don't seem to perform well either on the track or in BOTM contests, however.
Hope you're doin' something fun.

Well, it's a runner now.

Went by the LHS for some paint and they had a pinion. So I put the esc and receiver in and turned the motor leads 90°.

After charging a battery, I made a few laps through the house and around the living room.

The smorgasbord of manufacturers is what makes that Hopper so awesome! :D
I build RCs like people would have done back in the '90s ..................................... if they had 3D printers.

Not exactly rc but I bought a new light/tripod,camera mount to use with the rc related videos I have started making. My old setup had a 8" ring light but my camera blocked about 30% or more of the light. The new setup has an 18" ring light so there won't be any lighting issues, or at least I hope.

Threw the body and wheels on the Mid 22 for a quick look.

I got in some nice repro JRX2 decals. I stickered up and dropped a motor in the JRX2 that's in my "No Losi buggies" collection.

A 5 minute Krylon paint job and a few decals, and it almost looks respectable. Almost.

Little more progress on the two Futaba FXT's. Also freshened up a Speedworks Tony Neisinger 14T quad motor with a new MCI decal (turned 29,830 rpm at 7.2V and 2.8 amps, with 12 deg. timing) and slapped it in one of the FXT's with a 20 tooth pinion. The other one has the same amount of progress except the motor isn't ready yet. Next, gotta dig through and sort out all my wheels. The one pictured will be getting stock wheels, and the other HPI Super Stars.

I clouted the wall with my Cougar. Tore up the right front and slid to a stop next to the wall like an Indy car on a desperate qualifying attempt

Earlier in the day I set a series of new fastest ever laps with it, so it was great day, loads of fun. No one showed up to race in novice with me (unseasonably beautiful day here), so every run was like a demonstration run with the whole place watching my car. The effect was multiplied because I am the new guy and because I have this weird old Schumacher car unlike anything that ever raced there.

Faster, faster, faster, POW!

Checked out a couple of Tekins from 'the heap' of unknowns. The TSC 410S is completely dead but a little Pro Tempfet unit is a good one. Cleaned it up a bit, added a power switch, Futaba'd the receiver plug wire pattern, and it's ready to use.

Refreshed a Speed Gems Ruby 16T triple for the runner FXT. I had this motor in my first FXT circa 1994-1995. Original decal is in decent condition but is coming apart, so I trimmed and placed a piece of clear tape slightly larger than the original decal to preserve it. Motor ran great using new light springs, turned 28,540 rpm at 7.2V and 2.6 amps with 0 degrees timing. Spun another 1,000 rpm at 10 degree timing but I'm going to keep it at zero.

Test fitted wheels and tires. Had some Losi 5.7mm wide 12mm aluminum wheel hexes that are a perfect replacement for the original plastic hexes. The black wheels on the runner truck are reproductions of the originals our resident Frankentruck 3D printed for me. Which fit perfectly, might I add.

Did you have to trim the back of the fronts?

The fronts that he made me hit the hinge pins before full lock. I'm thinking of getting a router attachment for my Dremel and using a 1/8" end mill bit.

Those are good looking trucks, and having a motor you've owned since back in the day that's still in that good of condition is excellent!

Got a picture? It's the same model used for both your sets. I wonder if I missed adding a chamfer from the originals.
