Re: Dadio's 3D Printing Stuff
The Ishipla Monster is such an odd design, it's like it was done by multiple people that didn't speak the same language and hadn't ever met each other until they were told their sections had to connect together. Yeah I think it's really cool!

Re: Dadio's 3D Printing Stuff
I swear they ran out of money half way or they ran out of time , the gearbox and I rear suspension were done so they frankensteiened it to a hastily copied grasshopper front end , even the plastic in the trailing arms at the back is of a clearly much higher quality than any other plastic on the car , it's very odd but I really do believe they started making a high quality competitive car but somehow only completed the rear end before they were interrupted and dramatically reduced their aspirations.Frankentruck wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2023 3:19 pm The Ishipla Monster is such an odd design, it's like it was done by multiple people that didn't speak the same language and hadn't ever met each other until they were told their sections had to connect together. Re: Dadio's 3D Printing Stuff
They did manage to release it with a different name and body but I've never seen one up for sale.

Re: Dadio's 3D Printing Stuff
As per the stickers sheet, there was three models : the Monster, the Super Hawk (a shop nearby had an identified body, which I sent the link to a friend, and he bought it, never saw any kit up for sale, neither advert in all the french magazine archive you can find on rc-paper.com or retromodelisme.com), and another one Appolo, which I don't even know how the body was....

Re: Dadio's 3D Printing Stuff
The Hawk in the picture above looks mechanically identical but who knows what the Apollo was like , maybe it was in god mode and had a better front end , usually I have vague memories of most cars but I never knew about the Monster back in the day at all let alone any other versions .silvertriple wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2023 8:45 pmAs per the stickers sheet, there was three models : the Monster, the Super Hawk (a shop nearby had an identified body, which I sent the link to a friend, and he bought it, never saw any kit up for sale, neither advert in all the french magazine archive you can find on rc-paper.com or retromodelisme.com), and another one Appolo, which I don't even know how the body was....

I think monster is a perfect descriptive name for it. It's such a composition of different design styles.

What's really weird is like Hirobo , Ishipla was known for helicopters and in the 80s they were rocket science compared to buggy s .Frankentruck wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2023 9:22 pm I think monster is a perfect descriptive name for it. It's such a composition of different design styles.

Well... But if you look at the first Hirobo car, it's quite impressive what it brought into the rc car world :Dadio wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2023 9:36 pmWhat's really weird is like Hirobo , Ishipla was known for helicopters and in the 80s they were rocket science compared to buggy s .Frankentruck wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2023 9:22 pm I think monster is a perfect descriptive name for it. - first 1/10 Offroad EP 4WD
- belt driven
- quite good possibilities of adjustment for the suspensions
And it was early 1983. Most genetics of the modern 1/10 rc cars were present in this car...

Re: Dadio's 3D Printing Stuff
Absolutely, the Hirobo cars were well ahead , adjustable camber double wishbone suspension with C hub carriers , front kick up , belt drive , glass fibre reinforced nylon suspension components and all in 1983silvertriple wrote: ↑Sat Jun 03, 2023 8:42 amWell... As per my understanding, it was only pure Nylon in 1983 for Hirobo. I believe the Nylon Reinforced with fibers came with the Alien...

Re: Dadio's 3D Printing Stuff
I just discovered something in Cura that's solved a gear printing problem I came up against , I was trying to print a low tooth count 0.8 mod gear and when I sliced it it was in a lot of places just printing the outer wall and leaving the tooth virtually hollow like a vase print .
I think I may have invented something useful for a change !
I tried a ton of things to resolve the problem until I stumbled on this , you can in Cura adjust the outer wall line width , I've used this function on vase prints (a vase print is only one wall thick and mostly used for printing light weight vases ) to make them stronger and water proof by making the wall wider , in this case I went the other way and instead of a 0.4 mm wall width I went for 0.3 mm and it worked perfectly .I think I may have invented something useful for a change !

Re: Dadio's 3D Printing Stuff
Drew up and printed the reduction gear , it's to replace a gear in the Ishipla Monster that runs on a bushing that has no equivalent bearing so this one can take two 6x3x3 flanged bearings

Re: Dadio's 3D Printing Stuff
I just found another part that had poor wall quality with 0.4 outer wall so I tried 0.3 and its perfect again
this is an RC10 caster block and you can see a dip in the wall at 0.4 mm wall now with the 0.3 mm wall .
