Not as good as a porta-potty at the end of the rainbow.
I miss brushed motors in that hazy, everything seemed better when I was a kid, kind of way.

Sitting on my friends patio the other day and this happened, what I'm calling a horizon rainbow because it was flat across the horizon, not the traditional arch that rainbows usually are. Pix were taken about 10 minutes apart.

Interesting. I wonder what factors combine to make a rainbow present in that manner? There's gotta be a nerd out there somewhere....Halgar wrote: ↑Sun Sep 10, 2023 2:59 pm Sitting on my friends patio the other day and this happened, what I'm calling a horizon rainbow because it was flat across the horizon, not the traditional arch that rainbows usually are. Maybe just distance/perspective?
Also, it seems like your friend has a pretty bitchin' patio!
Hope you're doin' something fun.

Re: Picture of the day. (Taken by you)
On that particular day it was fairly overcast most of the day, as evidenced by the sky in the pics. We were also getting very light sprinkles for a few moments throughout the day, so there was a lot of moisture in the air. It was around 4:30 or 5pm, so the sun was setting on the opposite horizon (behind the camera). I'm guessing it was low angle light and high moisture air. The second pic shows the rainbow starting to take a traditionally shaped arc, again, I'm guessing the low angle light and possibly the earth starting to shadow the sun's rays. Regardless, nobody that has seen these pics, from age 20 to 80, has ever seen anything like it.
Yes, they have really created a great living space. Their house literally sits along a ridge top, the patio we were on faces east towards the Sierra mountains. The west has views of the coastal mountain range.

Another rainbow. At one of my daughter's band competitions this evening. Unfortunately, it was a different school on the field at the time. It was the host school though, so cool for them.

Probably on it's way to a McDonald's drive thru window. Those Egg McMuffins are tasty.GoMachV wrote: ↑Sat Sep 16, 2023 1:54 am Not a great pic as I was hanging my phone out the window lol. Not too often you see a tank stroll through town
