Kyosho tire experts?

Post by TRX-1-3 »

OK the Micro Block series, W-5632 and W-5642..

I believe the W-5632 is a "narrow" front 4wd tire

I think the W-5642 is the wider rear tire.

Is this correct?

Did Kyosho make any Micro Block tires in a "traditional" 2wd front width?

I am researching for a build. Apparently the Kyosho micro blocks were the only tire that was hooking up at Aire Valley back in '92.
Hope you're doin' something fun.

I may not be able to answer your question exactly, but I got the following vintage Kyosho narrow block tires.
They say these tires are good for use on 4WD but also as rear tire for 2WD buggy---good for hard and dry surfaces. I wonder if that was true.

Upon further....it appears AMR re-released the micro blocks back around 2020-2021. Only to be found over in Europe....hmm...shipping woes. I will retire to the nerdery and regroup. I do have a set of original Option House "narrow" 56mm's inbound from Hong Kong...
Hope you're doin' something fun.

OK, found a pair of W-5642 out of Germany. WMS. I used the guidelines in the scam/scam avoiding thread. The had their own email address. Well that's about all I checked. The seemed really legit otherwise.

Dang it! You never know when you're gonna "out" someone's super secret source. I've noticed some places dried up after I opened my big mouth in the past. Probably just coincidence....gotta watch out for the flippers though.

Well, phooey. Ended up with a pair of W-5641 "H" pins. Order clearly reflects W-5642 "micro block". Not sure if I should launch an inquiry into the mix-up or just accept the "loss". I don't want to be a pest. The H-pins are a pretty neat tire, but I need the micro blocks for a "replica". Hmmmm.
Hope you're doin' something fun.

Well I decided to just ride it out. A pretty obscure set of old tires is cool enough and I'll just toss the 5641's in the "swappy/buildy options" box. But......Antony at KyoshoSpares out of the UK nailed it! He was kind enough to adjust his shipping radius and I have a set of 5642's heading my way!

Happy New Year!
Hope you're doin' something fun.
