Spent half the morning standing on / walking on this curb / duct adapter, before moving on and spending the second half of the morning on another one. Not sure why anyone would install such a piece in front of the main power / control / compressor section of an RTU.

Because it wasn't the installer's job to have to service the unit. "Ain't my job, ain't my problem!"

Here at one point. Looks like a ghost Pug with glowing eyes running. It cleared for totality. It was actually better than I expected. Very erie.

The more the sun was blocked here, the cloudier it caused the entire sky to become until you could barely see anything at all. Still super cool though!

These were my eclipse viewing shades for the day. I forgot all about the eclipse, and then while it was happening, I remembered this technique from the last time one rolled around. Works like a champ!

Was planning to travel to Walnut Ridge AR but weather looked a bit dodgy so switched to Paducah KY but it was looking a little cloudy so we stayed home and, between the rain clouds, was able to watch the whole event -- well, 89% anyway. Really cool!!
Can't wait for the next one. Think I'll be like 109 then.

I took nearly 50 pics and only could salvage a few.XLR8 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 1:31 amWell, I got photos but yours are much better than mine.radioactivity wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 6:46 pm Unfortunately fairly overcast but...

But I did get full eclipse, a "Diamond ring" shot and captured the Baily's Beads effect.
The upper clouds were thin and blurred the pics.
The salvageable pics were fleeting glimpses through lower more dense clouds.
1st total eclipse for me and it was way darker than I imagined.
Only a glowing ring with an odd red spot in the quite dark sky.
Pretty surrealistic!
