Weather is delaying the painting, so I looked over the decals. Why would the decals have Wolverine on them?

Consistency is the key I keep misplacing.

Re: Super Clod build with a few mods
Dang painting! My final coat orange peeled! Aargh! I should have left this thing the molded white.

Re: Super Clod build with a few mods
Any areas that didn't orange peel? Wet sand with 1 billion grit and some rubbing compound to even it out/shine it up. Watch the high spots/raised details. Or there's the oven cleaner strip and start over. I can feel your disappointment from here. Any success I've had with smooth paint on styrene/ABS has been luck. Too heavy, it runs, too light, it's grainy, somewhere in between, it's orange peely. I've had some favorable results with a low/low hairdryer setting to help the final coat "lay down". All my mediocre paint experience comes from rattle cans on 1/25 and 24th scale static muscle cars though. Anyway, chin up, good luck.Frankentruck wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2024 4:35 pm Dang painting! Re: Super Clod build with a few mods
Got the paint good enough to put stickers over. Finally done. Take a pic, go run it, flip it, and scuff it up!

Really, I should have left it all white plastic. It will have plenty of white scrapes soon enough.
The rear steer definitely addes to the maneuverability.

Re: Super Clod build with a few mods
Cloddin' along today and reverse stopped working. The THW-880 ESC was flashing red. After powering off and back on, reverse worked again. I guess it's ok for the ESC to be a quitter if it wants to be.

Re: Super Clod build with a few mods
Some more Cloddin' fun today, this time the dogs around the yard, and later with an 18" high ramp. Ramp no problem... as long as the launch is straight.
However there were several slowish speed rollovers where the battery cover popped off and the battery ejected out the side. Is there a known mod to better secure the battery cover on the stock chassis?

Re: Super Clod build with a few mods
Had a little more Cloddin' fun today. It was too warm though for the dogs to join in.

Re: Super Clod build with a few mods
Reprogramming the kit ESC to allow additional reverse speed unlocked the ability to do wheelies. I'm tempted to swap in a Novak Super Rooster or Super Duty ESC but would either have to add a lipo alarm or watch run time. The lipo alarm I have doesn't really lock in the battery balance lead, so my non-careful clodding might frequently disconnect it. For now I'll probably stay with the Hobbywing from the kit, but 100% reverse doesn't look as fast as 100% forward, which I think it should with these stock motors.
