Fan RC is making the parts that work for the gt/t2/sport truck so it's a viable daily driver.Dangeruss wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2024 9:23 am That's a cool truck. A lot of attention is given to the early 7001 kits but the later Sport Trucks like yours are interesting in their construction. Crash parts are less expensive and easier to find, being shared with the T2/GT, so building it as a runner is more palatable.
Any thoughts on motor/esc, paint, or wheels/tires yet?

I bought a RC10ST in 1996 and was totally bummed when I discovered that they’d stopped making the 10T with the white suspension parts

Andy's painted bodies are incredible, like the Horizon Hobby paint scheme he does.

I bookmarked this link, and just watch the cool things he puts up there once or twice a week. Great place to draw inspiration from.

Looking forward to seeing you get this put back in order.

Re: My first RC10T. But, what is it?
I was just thinking about that.
Today, I would be very disappointed if I opened the box and discovered the truck doesn't look like the box art.
Back then, it probably wasn't a really big deal to some guys. Maybe some of them might look upon it as an upgrade... like they'd actually received a T2 by mistake.

Unfortunately for me, actually buying an Andy's original would be a budget buster - to say the least.
Anyway, thanks for posting the link. I'll have a look and hopefully find some inspiration.
Also, I will post updates as this little project comes together.

BTW, I did paint this "good enough" body for the '91 Stealth replica a few years back. I could do something similar for the 10T

That '91 Stealth looks great! A matching RC10T next to it would really be something.XLR8 wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2024 11:21 pmYup, that truly is a thing of beauty. Pretty buggy.

XLR8's '91 Stealth Replica... https://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?t=43323&start=90 ...worth reading for those that haven't seen it.
It's hard to out paint the guy who's been painting them since the beginning. But I think it'll be cool to see what you come up with... 'cause the paint on your Stealth ain't bad at all.

Re: My first RC10T. But, what is it?
Thank you again. It's hard for me to believe that it's been nearly 6 years since I built that buggy. I have everything to assemble a Masami car and I'm reminded that I really need to build it. I may not be around in another 6 years.Dangeruss wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2024 9:47 am Pretty buggy.

So, back to paint. Since this is my first 10T, it needs to wear a box-art body shell so that's the direction I'm leaning. If this were my second 10T, I'd probably get more creative. May not post photos since everyone has seen that box-art shell a million times.
I've found a scan of an original decal sheet so I'm starting to think about what stickers I have vs. what I'll need to source.
I really wish someone could tell us about that mystery body shell I pulled from the attic - see photos posted on page one.

I searched and searched, but didn't see one like it. It would be easy to spot because of the molded push bar, the line down the middle of the cowl induction scoop, and the shape of the rear fenders.
It looks great! I'd use it if it were me.

It's our first body, the 9500 Chevy stadium truck. Boki has the mold now so they will be available. As mentioned in the pic Custom Works was pulling them for us. They also helped with teaching Chris and Daryl how to make the bodies.

Re: My first RC10T. But, what is it?
Oh WOW,

By chance, do you know the approximate years of production? I would have bought this one prior to 1994.
Anyway, that's awesome that it will be available again. It's a good looking truck body.

I believe 1989 or 90. It was in our 1991 catalog and not in our 88

Exactly what I was thinking... wow, wouldn't have guessed A&L.
That'd look cool with box art paint... or Jammin Jay style like Scr8p's replica...

...but with Associated decals, of course

Granted it wouldn’t have had the red chassis.
I did end up finding a NIB OG RC10T a couple of years later, complete with the slim front tires.

I reckon this project is relegated to back burner status while I search for reasonably priced dogbones.
I will not pay crazy ebay prices for them.
