So, what did you do RC today?

When it's R/C related, but doesn't fit anyplace else.

One of the few scratch builds of Evage, one of the guys from rc-vintage.com almost local to the meeting...

You may see it on his table with others of his work....

Lots of interesting RC's on that table but my eye immediately goes to the little blue boat-tail in the middle of the frame. Sorta reminds me of the Traxxas Snap-on Sprint car. I definitely need something like that in my collection. :D

Evage is posting detailed threads of his work (in french, though) on rc-vintage.com.
You may have a look here : https://rc-vintage.com/viewtopic.php?t=20861 (you may have to create an account to be able to see all the pictures, and if you decide to interact, you have to present yourself in the dedicated section as there is some moderators who would run after you)...
EDIT : he also have a page here which is accessible from anywhere here : https://vimeo.com/evage

Reminds me of the super smooth, not locked at all, double diff ringed 272 "Magnum" I disassembled just to throw away once. Nothing salvageable whatsoever. Motor plate and guard, they where still usable.
Hope you're doin' something fun.

This gearbox and diff are nice and smooth as is, just needs cosmetic cleanup. The extra friction discs will be ok spares for other builds.

A little motor rehab. Actually, just new decals on motors that I'd already rebuilt.

The Kyosho's are real. The B&R is a 19/2 Yoko, Speedworks is a 19/2 Trinity, one blue label is a Yoko super stock, and the other is a MVP arm and endbell in a mod can.
Always looking for new and interesting ways to waste money.

This week-end was busy. Yesterday I build a gaming computer for my son instead of working on my cars, and today there was another vintage event at about one hour and half drive from home...

I was there at 9 this morning with my son to set the my stand...
ImageImage
There was two track, one with carpet and some very wild jumps for 1/10 (you can see it in the back ground of one the two pictures of my stand), and another one bigger, more old fasion with a table, and a few jumps looking more acceptable for vintage cars than the ones on the smaller track...
Image

My son was there without cars and juts the camera this time... I started runs on the smaller track with the Ninja, first with some very timid jumps...
ImageImage
Image

Then with a few more laps, I started to get over optimistic...
ImageImage

I took the picture at the end of the day, but I guess I will have to reprint some rims :-) (they broke at the same place than original ones, and it is not really surprising, and I did not broke anything else - which is good).
Image

I also ran the Lunchbox, Turbo Optima and Hilux without damages... And the PETG parts of the Hilux seems quite resistant...
ImageImage

Others ran cars (some are even really difficult to define, as there is many ways to have fun in vintage events)...

We left early as my son was quite impatient to run his new gaming machine... Which allowed me to do the cleaning and to put the stuff beck in place. Not other damage than the Ninja rim, and I will need to inspect the Tomahawk combo as two faulty sensor cable one after the others seems to indicate another problem...

I worked on my slash puller a bit today. Got the shocks locked out, installed a slipper eliminator, made up a rear hitch mount, made some rear body posts to lift the rear and move the body 1/2" forward, and made up a battery filler piece because a shorty was all I could find with the max specs. The battery filler works though because I can switch the battery from front to back for weight dispersant.

I build RCs like people would have done back in the '90s ..................................... if they had 3D printers.

got an itch to build something, grabbed a kit off the shelf. I have two identical kits, so one will be a shelfer now. This is a kit that I bought from my previous employer, I worked there in 1992-93 and this was a leftover that he listed on ebay a few years back.

It's time to stand up to the bully. Support the companies that support the industry, not the ones that tear it down. Say no to Traxxas
